The headlights on my 98 Contour are not very clear anymore. The lenses almost seem foggy. Is this on the inside or outside and has anyone tried the stuff that is supposed to make them clear again? I seen it at Wal-mart today.

wet sanding can give a pretty big improvement, but theres no substitute for new headlights. (ebay is the cheapest, but you usually get what you pay for.)

autozone sells kits for it, i do believe. The best results w/ wet sanding afaik have come from sanding then putting on a protective clear coat. Theres a lot of literature on it though if you do some searching.

I would try the wet sanding first.... my brother did that on his and it cleared right up. I need to do it to mine once summer comes again.... You can PM SVT_22 if you have ?'s

I used Plast-X. I got it from Pep Boys for like 6 or 7 bux. It's been about 6 months since i applied it, and they still look like new. Doesnt take too much time to do, and the results are amazing. I am going to do it again this summer to get any spots i missed.

But, like the others have said, nothing beats a new set of lights :)

I second the Plast-X, It was great on my minor Haze and shines up real nice. I will polish them more in the spring.

I wetsanded my 2000 SVT with some 600 grit and then finished it off with some 1500. Afterwards, I took an orbital buffer with some rubbing compound to buff them back up to a shine. Finished off with some meguiars glaze. Its definetely an improvement. I need to do it again though.
