One of the studs for the header to Y pipe is destroyed. Any tips on how to remove it from the header. It's stuck fast, heat, PB blaster, but I can't get it to budge. Is there any way of getting this out of the header?

Thanks

Adrian

Cut both sides of the bolts in half with a grinder or dremel.

Then take your y-pipe up to an exhaust shop an d pay the guy 10 dollars to blow out the bolts.

it's tacked on from the back side if its a stock manifold. grind the back of it off and hammer/punch it out. i did that on my old manifolds and it worked. if they are SUPER rusty, you will have to get a torch out, and its a bad idea to do under the car with all that oil and such laying around....

Drilling through cast iron is not fun and I wouldn't recommend it. Even if you use expensive drill bits that you keep cool with oil it will take forever. You could make a notch in the flange (turn it into a flange with out the ear on the edge). Use an angle grinder and grind in from the edge through the bolt. Make the notch wide enough for another bolt but not too large so that the new bolt won't have material to grab onto. Slap a washer on the top and run a bolt through and install a nut.

I had to do this last night to the cat section of the pipe that connects to the cat-back.
