Group Buy: Full 3L Coil Pack Bracket

Like I said this is just an initial design. I have not test fit anything yet. The coil pack will probably need to move back further, might also have to go up, down left or right.

Once I get a mockup that I think is close I will cut a part out and bend it up. I will compare that and see how it goes.

I do not know how it will fit with the ST220 intake. I do not have one of those. If someone could tell me if it sticks back further or not then the plastic manifold I will see if I can fit that into the design. If it is much more then a 1/4 or 1/2 inch I will probably not be able to use this design with it. 1/2 more might push the coil too close to the firewall.

Thanks for the reply, I am glad you like it.

Edit: I was just looking at the picture I might even have the coil pack at too steep of an angle.

I'd love to have this fit st220 manifolds too. I'll try to get you a picture of the firewall and st220 clearance tomorrow. For now this is all I have.

If you could put something at the back of the manifold and see where it touches the valve cover, then I could compare that with the Taurus manifold.

Wow, that looks tight. Maybe Once I get the bracket for the 3L intake made and correct I will send it to you and you can see if it works on the ST220 manifold. I might end up having 3 different coil pack brackets for different configurations.

I do have to say that is sweet spacer plate you have on there. :)

Another edit: That intake and valve cover might look really sweet polished.

Yeah I can do that 4 ya.

Thanks again for the plates. Knowing your work the brackets will work great.

Oh and I was thinking of copper with red fittings.

I have not forgotten, I did some work on it this last week. I am having a hard time getting the shape. I need to pull my car in the shop and get it setup with the valve cover and manifold to get closer with the design. I did cut out a quick prototype, but did not get very close with the bends. I will try it again.

Hopefully more updates coming this week.

Don't loose faith. I have made a couple prototypes to try and get the shape right. But, it is hard to picture back behind the engine like that. I finally got my car out of use for a while, so I can take it apart and assemble the 3L parts onto it. Then hopefully I will be able to better see where I am going wrong.

Thanks for the patience.

I just ordered a prototype. It should be here in a week or so. I was trying to make my own, but with a crappy Harbor Freight bender it just wasn't working. With the 3D printed model I will be able to see exactly what my model looks like and how it needs to be changed.

Hopefully I can get it right with just one more prototype, but we will see.
At least it is progress.

why not just do it like this? its just a flat piece of steel. i hadnt organized the wires yet when i took the pic

I think since the coil pack is not the prettest piece on the car, people wanted it out of site like it was originally. I also feel that way. I did give the option of that location, but nobody wanted it. The majority wanted it behind the intake manifold, second preference was off the rear valve cover like you showed.

If I want to be able to eventually get rid of the brackets I have made up I will need to go with the location most people want.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

i can understand that completely, personally i would want it out there in the open so that it doesnt get trapped back there in the heat

I finally made some time last night to prepare the file for the second prototype. And I ordered it. Since it is a rapidprototype made of plastic, it is cheaper with less material. So here is what it looks like in a minimalistic state.

The prototype should get here in 10 days (I wish they were a little faster).

Thanks for the major patience, I have been way too busy. I got a Supra Limited Slip diff in my Toyota Pickup now though.

Well, I will revise it till it fits like I want it to. The hope is that I will have it finished while people are still interested in working on Contours.

yeah... that's sexy! I can't wait to see the finished product... thanks for keeping on this!

So this will be another cool product that no one will see (once installed), and non-contour people won't understand why it's so cool :D
