My 99 se with 173K miles has a few bad injectors, if I don't run injector cleaner in it it runs horribly and im getting misfire and lean codes, but with cleaner in the tank it runs better but still not 100%. I've seen several sets of the green 19# injectors for 60 bucks for the set. I know my car has the tan 17# injectors and the green are 19# but will the 2# really make so much of a differance that the pcm can't correct it?

I have an svt uim, lim, and tb im going to install with the new injectors and id swap in an svt pcm if it would run my atx, but we all know that isn't going to happen. Im going to upgrade to a 65mm mustang tb down the road along with the npg cold air kit. I can get a set of the tan 17# injs for 160 bit would like to save the benjamin if I can.

Thanks

From what i've read on hear, its best to stick with the injectors that the pcm is tuned for. You probably wont get the performance out of the 19# injectors without a tune or pcm swap. and you might even damage your engine and catalytic converter in the long run from running to rich but i could be wrong. You might even lose power by doing that but like i said i could be wrong someone else can chime in and correct me if im wrong but i would stick with the injectors that go with the pcm

And you might throw a rich bank code if i remember correctly

a few things. the injectors don't care what fuel system type they are isntalled in, however the elecrical connector is different between the two fuel systems. So a returnless injector will not plug into a return fuel system harness.

next the 2# difference is a big difference. without tuning the pcm will see the engine getting more fuel then its commanding. it will through rich codes iirc. so you can't just swap in larger injectors.

You could probably have your 17's cleaned/rebuilt and flow matched for less than a new set of 17's. Also, they would likly be easy to find in the junk yard.

Well after doing some more searching I realized the green ones did have the wrong connector. I ended up buying a set of stock remaned, flow matched 17#ers. Thanks for the help guys.
