Got My FRPP Head INSTALLED!!!

no, I tried searching a link and the site is under construction. The cooler is about 6" by 6" and resembles a small radiator. The tubes all run between the fins from one tank to another. I'll try to post a pic shortly.

I had the B&M supercooler. Fits well behind the front bumper.

Since you have the head....definitely do the header/exhaust. Really big difference.

i have a fluidyne(sp?) one, probly not as "good" as the B&M cause their is no self reg thermostat in it. but oh well. Does the job very well.

i want a head and cams so bad... :help:

but while car was in shop, mechanic revved over 8000 rpms and floated the valves.
I said it before and I'll say it again. Theres no way he revved it to 8k, specially on a stock motor, and since you show no evidence of a chip or removed park neutral limiter im going to have to call BS again.

he has a good point. id look into finding a new mech. in town.

and- with what i know about what a valve train does when it floats. Its just that it cant close valves fast enough so air slows/stops flowing and the engine cant build more speed(RPM) and power drops off. I didnt think it destroyed the valve train, but high revs can damage crank, rods and pistons(maybe ever oil pump if high enough). This is only what I THINK ive learned. I might be wrong.

Well, I live in Murfreesboro, TN. It would be awsome if I could get a nearby CEG'r to help w/the install. I def don't want to go through another tranny. I have been hard on it a few times, but much easier now that I know that bout the tranny.

I wish you would have said something a few weeks ago, I was in Westmoreland/Gallatin area bored outta my mind, I could have taken the ride to help with a tranny cooler....

Well, the revving thing is based on what he (the mechanic) told me, but I find it silly to argue about it, so I won't. The ENTIRE point of this thread is that I have a new FRPP head on the Contique. So, reguardless as to what mechanic told me, I was trying to help out a friend who's family was in need and got screwed over (there was much more than the head that I had to fix).
Anyways, thanks for all of the help and advice. I'm going with the cams, prolly adjustable gears, and the header very shortly. I'm installing the cooler this weekend, and WILL take progress photos to help anyone in the future who plans on doing the same with theirs.
Thanks for all of your help and support so far.

WHAT?!? No way did you put a FRPP head on a Pre-98 Zetec. The timing belt idlers are completely different. I've gotta see pics or call BS on this one.

A Focus/FRPP head's timing idler/pulley would have the belt run into the Pre-98's water pump. Not to mention that the Focus timing belt is 3.5" longer.

If you already have a Focus/98+ Zetec in your Contique, I apologize.

I apologize if there is a manufacturer out there that you guys think I'm talking about. FRPP head in my terms means Friction Reduced Port Polished. I didn't buy it from a certain manufacturer, I bought it from a friend who lives around here, is on this board, and had it ported and polished at a performance shop nearby. The shop is called Blue Ribbon Racing. So again, I'm sorry for anything I said wrong. Not B.S. it is possible to do to any engine. Also, I have no pics or Dyno results to prove anything, All I have is the ability to say that the Zetec is responding well to it.

Sorry, didn't mean to be a jerk. I just knew that it was pretty much impossible to do.

You should really say P&P Zetec Head, not FRPP. That has a completely different meaning in the Focus/Contour Zetec world.

BP

If you dont know, which you dont seem to.

FRPP in zetec world means, Ford racing Performance Parts.
