Got 'er Back!

If he re-builds the engine it will be like new if he does it right! tear it down to the crank and replace it all ( cam's, springs, Pistons re-done) then refit the top with the SVT lim's. For another 500-1k in the engine it will run another 150K plus.

"If he re-builds the engine" But I think just a swap was the plan...

It would not be wise just to do a engine swap, without taking a look inside first. All it takes is one bad piston ring, valve or something like a water/oil pump to kill all that effort.

Yeah, the plan right now is to only put the svt cams in. We currently have the car torn down and seem to be having trouble with the front exhaust manifold. Can reach in there. So we're just going to cherry pick it with an angle.

Took off the valve covers and UIM and LIM. Let's just say, WOW! They looked beautiful. No signs of wear and tear hardly. 156K and to think it looks like it does. I'll post pictures after it's done to show some of the "old" parts.

To 95-gpt, what valve covers are you talking about? The 3L or 2.5? I'm using the 2.5 valve covers just to mess with people by placing the 2.5 IMRC cover on. I'm crazy like that. Shoot me a PM if you are talking about the 3L. We'll work something out.

To everyone else, after done, random 2.5 parts will be up for grabs. Stay tuned for list and prices! :)

let me just say to anyone who says part this car out... NO! this car is set up to autocross. a lot of hard work has been put into this car to make it what it is and it is in beautiful shape. the pics do it absolutely no good. the major worry with swapping the engine is the rod bearings. the crank bearings should be good. when i pulled apart my 2.5 only the rod bearings were worn so im hoping this will be ok. once we open up the 3L and see how well it was taken car of it will be Jon's decision whether or not to open up the bottom.

stay tuned for another chapter in The Free Tour Build.

I figured why the hell not. We'll just drop the pan and replace those cheap little things. This "swap" keeps getting more interesting! I just want to have some insurance.
