Hey guys I got a 98 ford contour zeteck 2.0 I want to get rid of air filter housing. I have the air intake bought on ebay and cone filter however the hose that goes to air cleaner to back of engine block rubber hose. What do I need to do with this? It has the breather attached to it now in air filter housing. thanks for any help

You can either do THAT or you can use the elbow piece to go from the pipe to the TB. Use the bracket and bolt it to the former air-box mount, bend it, and zip-tie it to the MAF (where the clip used to go) to hold the intake up.

This is what it looks like. Thanks

I did a write-up, step-by-step of how to do the install of a simple cone filter on the stock intake box and tube, and it was on the old format forums....so pretty much gone with the wind! I don't know if I have a pic of it or not anymore...

...so I'm just going to whore an old picture of my clean engine bay!

It's actually pretty easy to install one. In a nutshell, you pull out the old air box, then place the new filter over the MAF and tighten down the clamps. I've done it so many times on so many vehicles now it's like nothing at all anymore...but I remember being afraid the first few times. Just be careful with the MAF. IIRC, you may need to do some GENTLE prying with a flat screwdriver to get it off...
