Looking to get some new tires on the 17's. Looking for good performance but stay within a decent price. Ran across the ZRi's for $90 a tire. Anybody have any experience with them? They seem awfully cheap. Any input would be appreciated.

I had some and they were decent. Soft as all get-out, but sticky. However, the Kumho SPT seems to have trumped them at the price point, as they cost the same or less and are a better tire in every way.

Those are completely worthless in the snow, I mean dangerously bad. I got stuck on flat ground, all they do is melt the snow, make ice, and get you more stuck. Grip very well in dry and wet condition though.

Well snow doesn't matter since the rims come off in the winter. I'll check out the Kumho's. Anyone else have any experiences with them?

I was fairly happy with mine. They were excellent on dry roads but I wasn't too pleased on wet surfaces. They also didn't last very long.

A summer tire isn't supposed to be good in snow.
I have a set on my svt and had a set on the escort. They're pretty good for the money, but you probably want to look at other tires that may be a bit better and cost around the same.
Sidewalls are a little soft so if taking corners hard, you need to put more air in then you would in some other performance tires, but other than that they do pretty good.
And mine have done great in wet conditions, better than the contiextremes I had.

TOYO PROXY 4's

Love the tires, sweet on my other rs5's. Hows my old rims doing dycomet? Honestly good traction with little road noise. That isthe only difference between these and other tires. I hated road noise and now these rims reduce it soomuch more.

Cheap tires.

Rims are doing great, I can't wait to get them back on I just need to find some new tires for them. I'll check out those tires.

Fuzion is a Bridgestone brand. The ZRi has the same tread pattern as my Dayton Daytona ZR. I suspect that they are the same other than the name on the sidewall. I'm very happy with mine. I'm on the second set. The first set lasted 60,000 miles.

The guy at the tire shop claims that both are the same tire as the Bridgestone Potanza 750. I have my doubts as they do not have the same traction rating. I'm sure that the "value" brands lack something to help reduce the price. It does seem to be very close though. Anyway, if indeed the Fuzion is the same as the Dayton then I like it better than the Kumho.

Anybody reading big jim's post should realize his driving style may differ from your's and don't be sad when you don't even get half the mileage out of the tires that he got. But that is to be expected from a performance tire, big jim's results show what can be achieved but not likely to happen for many of us. And the daytons do look exactly the same as the fuzions. And if they're cheaper and you can find them, then get them.

Big Jim which kumho are you referring to when you say "the kumho"? And also, I have seen/made tires that are the same (some exactly, some with a variation in the tread pattern, but same tread compound) with varying tread wear ratings. Tread wear ratings are a rough estimate and tire makers can and DO change them to their benefit.

I'm starting to lean away from the ZRi's. I still want to stay in their price range some what but I don't mind paying a little more for a decent set of tires.

All i can say is best tire for the dollar...youll be very happy

It is the Kumho 712 that I have had experience with, on another car. They wore like butter. They got greasy real quick so they didn't really perform as a performance tire very long from starting to get sticky to getty greasy and sliding easy.

Ah, the SPT is as different from the 712 as the Contour is from the Tempo.

I had a fusion zri on my escort after my drivers side front kuhmo 712 developed a knot in it. I'll have to say that the fusion had a pretty good grip for the money. I originally didn't notice that they were different cause a friend hooked me up and said he would get me a kuhmo. I can't really say too much about the tread life because my escort was killed shortly after. Because of the fusion i have bridgestone potenza's on my csvt now.

I had the Fusion's on 17" rims - very happy with the performance - got 20,000 miles including two half-day track runs (Willow Springs big track & CA Speedway infield course). No issues in the rain - never in snow. Based on the comments and rating from Tire Rack, I opted for the Kuhmo SPT's this time. The ride is much better and the price is comparable. Have done great in the rain, but haven't had any track time with them yet.
