Fuel Smell?

What would be some causes, other than broken/leaky fuel line, that would cause the whole cabin of a car to fill with the smell of fuel?

Also, I should mention that it only does it when the heater is on, and I'm sitting still with the car running, in park or at a stop sign/light. I thought it may be leaky exhaust, but I listened to it, and waved m hand around it (When it was just started, so it was cool.), but I didn't hear any leaks, and I didn't feel any air being pushed out anywhere.

I had this happen recently.

Then I remembered I was driving around with one of those 1 gal. gasoline jugs for an evening.

Good time for a smoke.

When ever the smell came today while I was in town, I pulled into a gas station and popped the hood. I couldn't smell anything besides some leftover oil from the recent oil change burning off. I revved the car, and still no smell. I do have to run to the parts store today, so I'll see how much an FPR is. The car has new fuel injectors, with only about 5000 miles on them, 4500 of them being miles that I have put on the car. But then again, they are ~3 years old though.

Then I would suspect the fuel lines or Fuel Pressure regulator.

I ordered an FPR, they didn't have any in, so I'll get it in a few days. $26. :D Also, I did notice that my blower motor for my heater is making a strange noise, kind of like a cricket. I think the bearings are going out, could that be any part of it?

The sound from your cricket...., I mean blower bearing has nothing to do with the the smell of gas. Chances are the blower fan is about to go out. That is an easy fix and I would not worry about it until it breaks (might be a month, might be 2 years).

Common problem on Contour's. Not sure on mystique. Fuel injector doughnut seals or nose seals where injector sits on manifold. Also oring seals should be replaced. Sounds like it is time to do upper/lower manifold removal and cleaning....
