Fuel Pump Removal Help

Well, I got the whole thing put back together and working. I was able to find a fuel line retainer on a salvage yard car. So now the car runs great.

It just doesn't stop well now. Brakes are overheating due to one (or more, I suspect) sticking calipers. Ugh...

But at least the fuel pump should no longer be an issue as long as I own this car.

You might try to put a small hose clamp around the fuel connector to depress all the clips at the same time. I got this tip from a Chrysler manual.

I have been using fuel injection hose on my pump, old and new, for a few years now. Hardest part is getting the 5/16" fuel line over the 'bump' on the connector. Use a hair dryer to warm the hose, and then force it over the bump.

I recently replaced my fuel pump with Ford's new updated pump with the horizontal sock. Hardest part was removing the in-tank mounts for the old pump. Almost gave up a couple of times, but once I realized that the black retainer clips can be sliced off with a single edged razor blade things went pretty fast.
