Fuel pump/ignition?

Thanks a lot for all the help guys. It's greatly appreciated!

I'm not very mechanically inclined (I lack a lot of tools and garage, and temperature for that matter, it's hovering around zero ferenheit around here lately), so I can't really do much work on my own vehicle. (If only the car failed to work in the summer)... :) It's too late to fix it myself anyhow, because I told them what happened this morning, and had them retrieve the car early in the morning before I saw this thread.

I actually printed a good deal of your insight, including the last couple suggestions, and brought it to the service manager. He's going to give the information to the mechanic tomorrow, and hopefully they narrow down the problem quickly. In the meantime, I have a *****in' focus that will presumably cart me to work in the morning.

We shall see...I'll keep you updated.

I know the Crank Position sensor controls the spark timing, but I thought that it also told the ECU to switch on the fuel pump relay and start moving fuel. I guess I was misinformed. If it's not the crank sensor, what does switch on the relay? (Other than the ignition switch for the first 2 seconds)

In the future, you may want to buy yourself a few basic tools for testing this sort of thing, instead of leaving yourself to the mercy of the dealership. A volt-ohm meter and fuel pressure/compression guage would be a good investment and with a little effort could save you hundreds or thousands of dollars in the long run.
