It's a newly designed/replicated/updated version of a car that was build 93 years ago that was dubbed "The Golden Submarine". Which back in it's time, designed by Harry Miller, raced by Barney Oldfield, kicked major butt in the races it was entered in. Rockin' 125hp at 2950rpm, capable of spinning 4000rpm...which isn't much in this day and age, but remember it was 1916!!
This updated version started with ideas from Dan Webb (won the Ridler award in 1990) and sketches from Thom Taylor (artist, hotrod auto designer). Hand built by Craig Naff (an idol of mine...my favorite metal fabricator responsible for cars like Billy Gibbons of ZZ top Cadzilla) along with Dan Webb.
This is cool: Because the Golden Submarine of 1916 was 3 liter power, they wanted to keep the motor on the smaller side so they went with a 200 hp Ford Focus Zetec 2.0 built by Keith Iaia of S.C.R.E.A.M. with a racing head, Hilborn fuel injection, special cams, and coil on plug ignition from Electromotive.
Thing sounds wicked!! You can hear it on youtube. Just search "Golden Submarine"
I found this link of tons more pictures of it:
