Focus Steering wheel...Will it work??

Found a Focus svt steering wheel local for cheap. Just curious if theres a way to make it work? I know cougar can be made to work but kinda doubting the focus. I might just pick it up anyway since its cheap enough i will not loose $$ if it dont work. Let me know what you know. Thanks.
 
I'd like to know this as well; I've always wanted to put a SVT Focus wheel on my Cougar. I COULD find out by just swapping the ones that are in my driveway right now, but I don't want to do the work...
 
the wheel itself will bolt on. the problem is going to be with the airbag and its connector. later Focus (Foci?) used a dual stage airbag and where slightly different shape and size than the earlier ones, the also used a different style connector (6 pin vs 5 pin IIRC). you would have to use an earlier style wheel/airbag from the Focus since the Contour also only had a single stage airbag, and i still dont know if the connector would be right.

not to mention the cruise control buttons and its connector.
 
well i know i tried to put an airbag from either an 02 or 03 onto my 2000 ZX3 and found out the hard way about the change to dual stage airbags. in this case early is only from 99-01 (maybe 02) I believe before they switched to the dual stage airbags.
 
Gotcha. That would probably prohibit things, then.

There are no 99 Focus' in America, though... 2000 was the first model year.
 
I was wondering the exact same thing, looks like it will work.

the newer style cruise buttons was actually one of the things I liked about the focus wheel. I'm guessing all the connections could be spliced assuming I got an early focus wheel with the right air bag?

[edit] also, any idea if the contour steering collum would show around the different wheel shape? I just saw that cougars had black column plastic, which cleared up my first concern of the column not matching in color, but if it shows behind the wheel that would be lame...
