Focus manifold

Yep, our Contour's cat/manifold has a square-ish 4-bolt manifoldthat is parallel to the ground. The focus has a triangular 3-bolt flange that is at a 15 degree angle to the ground.

Somebody want to fab up an adapter? That would be a nice little upgrade considering the stock Focus manifolds are so cheap and easy to find. It would be really cool to get an ORP (off-road pipe) fabbed up for those that don't want to run a CAT.

Having the adapter would also be nice because the you could use any aftermarket Focus shorty header.

An adapter should be pretty easy to fab up. Cut the flanges off a Focus and Contour cat, and weld them together with a small piece of pipe in between. Since the shorty header or manifold mounts to the cat much higher than the Contour manifold, there should be plenty of room.

Im going to make one anyway so I can keep the 1st O2 sensor in the stock location. If it turns out nice I can make some more.

An off road pipe would be just as easy, just take a little longer to make. You can get some pipe pieces from Summit, Jegs etc and put them together.

What kind of modifications need to be done to make an aftermarket header from a focus or cougar fit?

Ok, I just read in the old forums that a cougar aftermarket header fits up better than the focus one.
How hard is it to make it fit, even for someone who does not havemuch experience in this type of thing(me, kind of).

is that a turbo kit you bought or are you building it from scratch?

That was the custom turbo setup that I was working on. I stumbled onto the JRSC M62 supercharger so I've since put the turbo plans on hold. I do still have the turbo, intercooler, and header. PM me if you want to buy it. ;)

I have a Zetec Contour with the Weapon-R Cougar header. Bolts right up. I added a high flow bullet cat just to be legal (sort of). Did the work by myself in a few hours with common tools.

What if you use the Focus header ,that you got from the junk yard, and use the Focus oil pan and oil sump? Would you then be able to use the rest of the Focus exhaust? There are so many headers avail. for the Focus and not one for the Contour, that I can find.

IIRC the focus oil pan doesnt fit onto our cars. i believe the subframe and a heater hose is in the way.

Thats really hot! where did you find it?

Is the header made longer as an off road pipe or is their a gap for a cat? i cant tell as its not installed or lined up

The focus oil pan will bolt up, but cannot be used due to the contour engine cradle...the focus utilizes a crossmember instead of the engine cradle

the cougar header does fit the contour. they are the same chassis. however you are correct that it does not use a cat.

Edit: sweet maybe if this tour or the next is around long enough. it will be showing off one of these.

That focus 4-1 stock header is not really that great, if you stick a cat right under it you won't be happy with the results. If I were you I would grab a focus oil pan and get a svt focus header and flex. You will definitely notice the svt header.

Ah crude so the focus pan won't work, I take it back
