Finished the Cobra IRS swap

i did put the bushings in the control arms, and it was a huge pain. I hadn't heard of the need for recession and the bump steer. Oh well, i will have to wait and see how it drives. I never knew much about the IRS, as I only bought it cause of the deal I got on it. I was pricing out the rear cobra brake/5-lug conversion, and this entire rear was cheaper, plus I sold my solid axle on top of it. All i knew was the wheel hop was bad, so i figured i would change them all. Good info on the driveshaft, I didnt know about it, I wasnt sure so i didnt even bother putting it in. oh and I did buy the correct brake pads, just didn't install them yet. too much going on with the car now, since i still havent fully decided on what to do with the motor.
I blew the headgasket in August during an autocross, and have been debating 351W, or now the new boss block. I may just put a headgasket in the original engine and beat on it until it goes again.

The control arm bushings are really only a big deal if you are racing it competitively. Get the bumpsteer kit from MM, and you should be just fine.
I think the IRS is much better than a stock solid axle in a fox/sn95. You have to dump a lot of money into the solid axle to make it handle better, and it will still have much worse NVH and ride.
When the time comes to replace the diff, go for a T2R, it works significantly better in the IRS than the regular T2, where in the stick axle, they don't feel that different.

The brake pads are the same except the Cobra ones have less thickness on the friction material, so worn GT pads will work fine once they are worn enough to drop in place.

The new Boss block isn't available yet, so IMHO, I would do some new gaskets (and fix your tune so it doesn't happen again, lol) and do the boss block later on at your leisure. Ironically, a guy in one of my master's classes did a lot of the design work on that block, lol. 351W is nice, but it adds a lot of weight on the nose of the car, and since you already have the turbos up there, you're probably already plenty nose heavy, lol.

yeah that is the exact reason that I decided against the 351. When the boss block was introduced, i thought that would be exactly what i needed. Last time it was on the scales, it was 3214 with 3/4 tank, full fluids. This was before the 13" conversion and before the IRS. i would guess im around 3400 now, so a 351 is out of the question. im thinking new HGs and 60 lb/hr injectors will do me fine.

it's not an amp wire, it is the alternator wire. the battery is in the trunk, whats so scary about it anyway?? it is hanging a little loose because I took out some of the clamps to work on the subframe, it usually is screwed right into the frame rail.

Well that sounds better than it looks then. I would of ran it inside though probably, just preference I guess. Cool though.
