Few Questions, IMRC trouble shooting.

P1518 is fixed!!! Over 5 years of having the same code and it was a 15 minute fix!!

I'll be making some adjustments on Friday after I leave work, but so far, the IMRC is functioning perfectly. I bent the mounting tab for the cable up higher and the slack was gone.

The other issue I found was that the spring on my LIM was not secured in the correct spot. I had never noticed that it was supposed to be on that same mounting tab as the IMRC cable. Instead, mine had been resting on the metal fuel lines which is obviously not creating much tension on the cable.

The only reason I found that was because I compared my 98 SVT to my 00 SVT. I was using it to reference the position of the mounting tab and found the spring was secured in there as well. :blackeye:

My guess is that I didn't need to bend the tab much (if at all) and instead just clip the spring in the right spot.

Welcome to the club! 3 years for me, never even had a chance to drive it with them working. I think thats why the previous owner got rid of it. Lucky me I guess.

When you compared the brackets from the two cars, did you notice a difference in positioning?

I didn't compare it before starting to bend the tab, only after. My 00 SVT was at my condo and my 98 SVT was at my mom's where I was working on it. I took a drive over to the condo after to take a look at the bracket. I defintely bent mine up too far because the 00 SVT was down much lower.

I'm going to bend it down to the same position on Friday, and put the spring in the proper place and see how the IMRC responds. I'm not driving it until then because I don't want to damage the IMRC by creating too much tension on the cable.

I tried it yesterday for a good 20 mins, and at least 5-6 starts. The secondaries open and close exactly when they should. The code used to return after only 1 drive. On the second start, the P1518 would come back.

It's been soo long since I felt working secondaries on my car. The 3L has never had any low end power and it drove me nuts.

I bent the tab back down yesterday, and clipped the end of the spring in the proper place. The IMRC is still working fine and no P1518. It seems to respond even better than the other day because I think my last setup managed to open the secondaries a little bit. I didn't feel much of a kick at 4000 RPM's the other day and now it's much more noticeable.

P1500 popped up for some reason now though. I doubt it's related since it's for the VSS. I'll be checking over the VSS tomorrow and see if I can find anything. It hasn't triggered the CEL to come on, but it is showing when I scan for codes. I've cleared it and it comes back within the day.
