Replaced the engine & fuel injector harness along with the IMRC & bushings, valve cover gaskets, upper intake manifold gaskets, egr gasket, throttle body gasket, idle air control valve & gasket, pcv valve and fixed all broken hard plastic vacuum lines that were damaged due to removal. All are connected and can hear no hissing sounds anywhere. I cleaned the upper manifold with carb cleaner & a rag and scraped the tough stuff with a brush. Lower manifold also. I am now getting a P0171 & P0174 (bank 1&2 lean) + the temp raises up to 213 degrees & then the fans kick on to bring it down. The car runs great other than these few things. Im stumped. It seems like a vac leak of some sort but where? How?

Did you clean out the EGR passageways on the UIM where the throttle body mounts?

Yes i cleaned them a little. Not perfect just maily scraped the majority of the cumps out. I unplugged the iac and i cant get it to do it now though. Faulty iac? My old iac did it once or twice but this new one is constantly. Have a new one in the morning... Hopefully it is good.

UPDATE: Car has begun doing it again with IAC still unplugged.

Ill probably take the upper off today... Im confused how tgat could happen seeing as how they slide into place with those posts/holes and there is plenty of surface area on the upper and lower to cover it.

It happens. Plus, the only gaskets that connect both banks are the upper & lower manifolds'. So try re-adjusting them & see what happens.

I picked up a new set that includes lower intake gaskets... So now ill have another set of uppers. Ugh. Should have just bought the set right off the bat. Oh well. I figure ill just replace the lowers as well.

I may not have dropped the upper manifold straight down onto the lower manifold as well now that i think of it. Maybe this is where the "leak" originated...

Since you have to take the UIM off anyways, make sure to clean that area thoroughly...I use pipe cleaners soaked in carb cleaner to get all the way into the passageways towards the egr.

That is a good idea...

The LIM gaskets are super compressed and dirty. Maybe i just sealed it all off and opened up a leak there. It was basically just the plastic material acting as the gasket. Im guessing they were origional...

So another new IAC and new upper AND lower intake gaskets plus the throttle body gasket, egr and iac gaskets... Hopefully no more of that crazy air horn howling. That •••• was louder than my type-r 12 lol.

Low and behold. Change the LIM gasket andvthe UIM gasket again and still has the damn air horn sound from the intake. This car has been nothing but problems from day 1.

On another forum they call that "moosing" and seems to be related to the IAC. Might be easiest and cheapest to make sure it is cleaned and working well before digging into the intakes

On another forum I visit, they call that noise "moosing".
Just make sure the IAC system is in good working order, that seems to be the main culprit of this horrid sound.

Nah its not moosing i fixed that about a year ago... It is a fog horn sound coming from the intake. It rings all through the neighborhood. Its ridiculous how loud it is. Keep in mind it has new gaskets from the LIM up and a new IAC. No vacuum leaks or hisses (checked with carb cleaner). And the plastic vacuum lines are all in good shape..

Theres only 3 things i can think of..

1. I didnt realize i bought dex-cool coolant. So thats whats in it.
2. Is the coolant supposed to be burped? If so how?
3. The fuel injector harness i got from svttour was a little hosed up. The injector plugs were all on 180* backwards on both banks and i had to rotate them back another 180* for them to properly hook up. Are they hooked up wrong?

The car has a P0171 & P0174 code for bank 1 & 2 lean. And warms up very quikly until the fans kick on to cool it down unless on the highway/interstate.

The car also has another IMRC and bushings that i also replaced at the same time, though im sure this has no relevance.

Im absolutely stumped. The car had NONE of these issues before i swapped the engine & fuel injector harness.

I'm sorry to hear replacing the gaskets didnt fix the issue. Thats why i didnt suggest u bought new ones. I thought simply reseating them would help. Unless someone else chimes in, i cant think of any other loud sound our cars make other than moosing:ponder:. Can u post a video of the sound? The other things u listed like the electricals etc have no bearing to ur issue. However, i'm sure of this much. U've got a cooling problem. Could be cuz of the dex-cool u poured in. Unless coincidentally sumthn took a crap

Mine does a moose sound on some cold start ups lol and i do have a intake mani leak...i feel you on the problems,i got one thats been a headache from day 1 also lol...im going to strip svt bare and just buy a 4 banger contour...and send my shell to the bone yards previous owner abused mine hard core and its time for it to r.i.p.

I can try to get a video uploaded tomorrow... The only thing i could find online was mostly f150s and explorers and turning out to be an iac issue. Though that cannot be the problem here. Im just amazed how it just, appeared out of nowhere...

when its making the noise pinch the hose going to the IAC mostly closed and see if that stops the noise. if it does then you have the classic moosing noise. search for it here as well as the "pipe cap fix".

Still though even if that turns out to be the issue.. Where the heck are the lean codes coming from?

Well good riddens. The copper pipe cap drilled to 3/16" fixed the horrid sound... Now i will just see if the lean codes come back and how the engine runs temp wise. Thanks for your input guys.

I guess i forgot that i took my origional ford pipe out awhile ago... And never messed with this tube. But the n it was only extreme throttle hang, never the "moosing". Well either way it cost me only .59¢ lol
