engine replacement

I did not know dealers were replacing engines nowadays. I thought it was only indies and CEGers who were doing that for us.
 
would anyone be willing? I'm getting it checked out tomorrow so hopefully I'll get a full report on whats wrong with it.
 
There are quite a few who have done and will do engine swaps. You probably need to post in your local forum.
 
I like when ppl sign up and don't put a location up. It's like somone is going to find them in witness protection.

I got a time scheduled to go in tomorrow to see what they think is wrong with it. I hope it goes well and I don't get screwed.

I honestly hate working on the contour. Everything is so compact. Dropping the gas tank was horrible. I've had alot of work done on my car and I'm glad someone else did it. Alternator, starter, & flywheel to name few. I know I wouldn't want to pull that motor myself.
 
Fastcougar-Trevor is your man. He is in Kearneysville and he has done a few engine swaps. In fact, I think he is rebuilding a 2.5 L (just the engine to be sold soon). You should PM him and see if he will work on your engine swap.

to replace the engine, visit wal-mart they have engines now. lol


are you serious? You need to overhaul the engine? you probably should instead of replacing the motor, go to your local junk yard and find a 3L you can swap in there, the cost of a replacement "engine" would be almost as good as just to replace with a 3L, here's a link...

I hope to hear some kind of good news before lunchtime today. I took it to the guy who previously worked on it for me. Hopefully he'll know whats wrong with it and advise me with my options. If I have to replace the motor I will contact fastcougar just to see my options. I'm not worried about running a 3.0. I just use this car to commute. I'd love to fix it up but why waste my money. I really like my gas mileage. I'm getting about 350 miles to a tank when I fill up. And most of the time my gas light isn't even on. I love this duratec. I would like some more power but I would rather have something that was more so bolt in and go. I was looking at a guy on here that has a 2.5l OEM motor and I believe he would give me a good deal but I'm waiting for the holidays to get over to decide on that. Also what my mechanic tells me today will depend on that too.
 
Well I got the news. Mechanic says that it looks like the crank bolts are backing out and hitting the flywheel. :confused: ???? Hows that. Doesn't the flywheel and the crank turn the same?? He also thinks the flywheel is cracked. I for one have never seen the crank bolts on there Is there ones actually there?? Any pics of whats going on. I'm going over there when I get off of work and I really wish I had a digital camera.
 
Well its more like the flexplate is cracking around the crank bolts. Its Starting to be warped and it is rubbing against the plate that is between the tranny and the engine block. Its gonna cost me $810 to be fixed. At least for now I don't need a new engine. I replaced that flexplate before and it sucks that I have to do it again. I need a good flexplate. really really really sooon. Autozone flexplate suck!
 
WOW:eek: . I don't know exactly what's involved, but that seems like a lot of $$$ just to replace the flexplate. There was someone in the classifieds selling a whole car w/ a TH modded tranny complete w/ LSD for only $1000 IIRC. You may want to go that route.
