Engine Rattle

Alright, well I have recently noticed a rattle coming from my engine bay. It only occurs at certain RPM's (if in neutral around 3000, from a start around 1500). It sounds like a metal against metal rattle. I'm wondering if an exhaust shield got loose and rattles only at the correct frequency or something. Anything anyone else has encountered? Or am I being optimistic and this is the sound of something majorly going wrong? Any help or suggestions are appreciated. If you have ideas, shoot them at me so when I dig into the engine bay/area to find it, I check all the right places and don't exclude anything.

a baffle could be loose in a muffler. or something can be loose in your cat. thats what happened to me.

Yes, main cat converter shield.
Ok, i'll make sure to check that. It consistently rattles when RPM's are around 1500 and i'm cruising around town. Consistently does it around 3000 RPM's when in neutral (this confirms what I stated above only that it's not just from a start, but in any gear around 1500 RPM). I'll make sure to check anything that is suggested, so if there are differing opinions, please let me know.

Mine is doing this now too. I was under the car doing the alternator and did some poking around and it's the exhaust shield on the car. It has a sheet metal screw with a nut on it holding it in place, and the sheet metal snapped on one of the corners. Makes a nice rattle/buzz if I get on it hard. Anybody fix this on their car? I was thinking about just shooting a sheet metal screw through it, but that's kind of sloppy. I suppose I could fashion my own heat shield out of sheet metal. That could be a pain in the butt. Of course I could always just take it off too.
