I have a 97 contour se with a v6 duratec. What is the best thing to get you more power. But with a reasonable price?

Headers. 250 dollars. Best bang for the buck.
Next remove the resonator in your exhaust. Spend 55 dollars for a replacement resonator (magnaflow). 50 dollars to get it welded in.

yeah sorry about posting it two times i thought the first one didn't post. Are new headers hard to install? and how much power gain do you get? and i replaced my resonator wit a cherry bomb for now.

Yes the headers are a pain to install. Some people wait until they do the 3 liter swap so that should tell you something. It can be done though. Headers and an optimized y-pipe should get you an honest 15-20hp to the ground I think.

I think 15-20whp is a far stretch just with headers.

Ohh I agree, but you would also need a better free flowing exhaust,a good intake, plugs and wires then maybe it would be 15-20whp.

Plugs and wires don't make a difference as long as the ones you have are good. Headers and a full intake could probably net you 15-20whp.
Nitrous could get you 75whp :laugh:

Lay off the chips unless you're gonna do it right and get a full dyno tune. Even then most people will say you're wasting your money.

WHAT, no its not. A tune is a great mod for these cars, the stock rev limiter is crap and set far too low. The car is in a coma till its tuned even with minimal mods.

For an SVT I'd agree with you. For a non-SVT on a budget I wouldnt.

Headers are probably the best mod you can do. You'll gain about 10-15 whp.
A tune is a very good mod as well as long as its from a good tuner. Expect about another 10 whp.

What is a good header to get that is under $270? I saw a dnyomax for $250.
there is only one company that makes headers for this car and it isn't dynomax .....

Never even heard of dnyomax.
MSDS headers are the way to go. Search them along with the term grassroots sale.
Mods you want to look at doing right away.
