Duratec 30 engine specs

...or you could be SMART and not waste $1000's of dollars just to swap to a "common" piston size.

Stock pistons on the 3L have withstood 500 crank HP. I'd imagine the custom forged slugs currently available can withstand 800 then. Since the chassis can't handle 300 when does logic overcome peak thinking?

especially since last I talked to the machinist, the engine owner had since broke the block, seems it did not like the idea.

Wish I knew what it was used in.....

anyway, it's not like I seriously advocate going that route, just thought I would throw out another option I know has been tried.

That sounds like faulty machine work to me!

The Duratec block has supported over 1600HP without batting an eyelash. The stock crank lasted until around 1400HP before it bent but that was countless passes at 1400HP though. (Turbo pro drag Cougar)

back while I still owned my tour and was rebuilding the engine, when I took the block to the machine shop, he actually had one of these motors sitting there where they had just finished punching out a block and resleaving it to take either SBF or SBC pistons (i don't remember which). The customer was building some one-off motor for race purposes. You could always go that route.

That doesn't sound right to me. He may have found off the shelf pistons that fit, but they wouldn't be SBC or SBF pistons. Those are both 4inch and change bores. It may be the Ford "Mod" V8 family found in Mustangs. Something like 3.552.

Seriously though, anyone know a source for oversized pistons for 3.0L Duratecs?
