Sadly a car that we'll never see in America. All we have with that nice 2.5 is the Volvo C30 which was a big let down.

well, if it's using the 2.5 5 cyl, then it'll most likelt be making right about 300hp, just like the SR and VR volvo's.

and i don't get all this about exchange rates. ok, so they won't bring the car over here, cause it would cost 50k...so wtf are people over in europe willing to pay 50k for a focus for? is the average european rich?

Both hatches yes, but the rooflines to me are almost identical. Sort of like a cross between a CRX and a Caliber SRT4.
I agree with you here. It's almost pathetic how little the car designs have changed in 20 years.
But that's not a bad thing; just unoriginal.

I don't think the CRX and RS are alike. And the Focus RS is much larger. Compact vs Subcompact.

Strangely, the RS reminds me a little of the car in the last picture...

Well the C30 makes 227 from the same 2.5 but its also their entry model and only fwd. And europeans arent paying 50k for that car since they get the car from the source whereas we'd have to have it shipped over (I wouldnt drive a Mexican made Focus RS).

Most hatchbacks have that same profile though. I thought my 626 hatch looked just like a CRX plus 2 rear doors.

The exchange rate doesn't count. Ford would be building them using their current material costs in a retooled plant. I'd expect it to be slightly more expensive than it is, but not high enough to compete with the Fusion. Drop the i4 option from the Fusion, keep it a V6 at the smallest, and stick it in the low 20's cost range. Bring the Verve in in the low teens to fight the subcompact import realm, and let the Focus do its own thing in the mid/high teens. They wouldn't be able to keep them in stock if they made them gutsy and attractive enough.

I think people would still buy the mazda equivalent over a mexican built focus that might still be the current old-tech chassis.

Looks like its left hand drive so maybe there's a chance it'll make it to the US.

If it does get released in the US, I will be hard pressed to not buy one. Though, somehow I managed to avoid buying a Mazdaspeed3, but only just . . .

The ONLY car that Ford cares about making gutsy AND attractive is the Mustang. It seems at this point, they've completely given up on the U.S. performance compact market... and who can blame them given their most recent epic failure? In 05 they offer a 2.3l NA Focus with 151/154 and actually expect people to buy it over an only slightly more expensive SRT-4 @ 230/250 or Cobalt SS @205/200? Hell, even the SE-R Spec V had it by like 25hp & tq and sold for the same price... but the ST DID have traction control standard. Whoop-dee-f*ckin-do. An LSD was not an option, but you could get a CD changer! Idiocy. The more I think and/or talk about it, the more it pisses me off. Why even bother with such a poor effort? Ugh

Don't kid yourself, they probably just took a reverse photo of a right-drive one.
