WCF partner site CarSpyShots.net has mysteriously produced some computer edited images of the eagerly anticipated Focus RS model. The neon green color, blurred background and shadowed foreground alone are a dead giveaways that some major computer editing is employed here, not to mention the vehicle body showing some editing artifacts, particularly around the RS emblems, body edges and wheels/tires in motion while no driver sits in the vehicle also point to fraud. However, the strongest evidence is the fact that Ford released a teaser image of the front end late last year.

Still, what's causing the stir here is the overall genuineness of the RS package and the explicit detail of it's design. From the trapezoidal front bumper lower grille, lower headlamp mouldings, hood accent lines with vents, fender RS badge and side skirts to the vented rear bumper with diffusor, built-in dual exhausts and roof spoiler - it's all quite convincing.
Despite the hype, we know the car is coming. Prototypes wearing an ST body have been spotted numerous times, most recently at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, and Ford has admitted that the RS will appear in concept form at this summer's British Motor Show. Optimist put the RS at 350hp, but it is speculated that a 2.5-liter turbo making between 280-300hp will be the powerplant. What do you think?

Sadly a car that we'll never see in America. All we have with that nice 2.5 is the Volvo C30 which was a big let down.

WHOA!!! The C30 is awesome. The only issue it has is the rear is sorta :blackeye: hideous. Other than that it's awesome, 230hp AWD in a sporty two-door sports car. The interior is also very attractive. I think that the RS is awesome. Would be nice to see it on this side of the pond.

I like it. Maybe that just because I love the color green.

And the headlights and front upper grill show a lot of resemblence to the 06-07 impreza's.

Just my .02

they say no one would buy it if they brought it here. it would be too expensive. IMHO then why did they bring the mazdaspeed here?

They had a hard time selling the SVT Focus -- it would explain why they were a little gun shy.

The RS, if brought here, would be more expensive than the Mazdaspeed3. Same with many of the other European models. I saw a review of the Mondeo on Edmunds that said as much.

From the article: The 2007 Ford Mondeo is built at Ford's plant in Genk, Belgium, and the 30 percent decline in the dollar's value against the euro makes the prospect of exporting this car to the U.S. utterly untenable.

In the U.K., the top-of-the-line Mondeo 2.5 Titanium X tested costs $46,950 at today's exchange rates. Since the price of a Ford Fusion now starts at $17,770, it's not hard to see why there'd be no American constituency for this car. As one senior U.K.-based Ford exec put it, "If we sold it in the U.S., we'd have to take so much equipment out of it that we'd have to sell it as a cave."

the problem is thats not how it actually is. i just looked up prices for a Honda S2000 both here and in the UK. they start at 28,155 british pounds. that converts to ~35,581 Euros or $55,323. obviously the S200 doesnt start at $55K here but only $34,300.

simply converting the euro or pound is not an accurate representation of how much a car will cost if brought over here.

You're thinking of something else. The C30 is a FWD car that came up short of competing with the Mini for small car performance mainly because it weighs 3000 pounds instead of near 2000 like the Mini.

Ford USA deserves to go bankrupt if they don't import that.

Ford has always said the problem with importing the top Focus models is that with exchange rate they'd cost as much as a Mustang which to them defeats the whole purpose of having a smaller Focus.

IMHO then why did they bring the mazdaspeed here?

Because Mazda can keep the cost down on those models for some reason.

I think the difference here is that the car is made in Europe.

I think many manufacturer's just rip people off in europe because every other car is so pricey.

Either that or certification and taxes is an insane amount.
