I want to take a day trip down to Hocking Hills and see what all the fuss is about with the fun roads, gorgeous scenery, and state land. Does anyone from that area (or wherever) have any suggestions on specific places to visit? I was thinking of bringing a picnic and try to make it a fun thing for my girl and I.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

It's very rural and rednecky once you get down that far into southern Ohio, the state parks are really nice though. Salt fork state park is one of the nicer ones, it's a little bit east of hocking.

If your travels take you down 77 south be sure to stop at a swensons in Akron!

Google Maps says it's over a 4 hour drive. I'm trying to plan it around my girl's work schedule at this point. Don't know if 4 hours each way would warrant a day trip or not, but we'll see.

Yeah, over night is going to be the order of the day for this.

664 S from Logan out to Old Man's Cave. Time it so the road isn't busy with rubberneckers or RVs. It's a great road. Motor Trend used to (still does?) use portions of the Hocking Hills on their test loop. Beautiful area. I grew up near Lake Logan.

23 south to Columbus, take the 270 outerbelt east to 71S. 70W to Route 33 South (to Lancaster). Approaching Lancaster, take the outerbelt, not the business route. 20 minutes south of Lancaster (still on 33), you'll see signs for Old Man's Cave and 664.
