I've noticed my dash lights pulsing while driving lately in my 98 svt.Ther is no battery light or anything. I thought the alternator at first but I got 12.5v on the battery and 14.1v while running at 1500 rpms and 14.1v at 2000 rpms with the radio, headlights and highbeams on. So, I assume the alternator is ok based on this. Any ideas what else it could be. The pulsing is very faint but with the days getting shorter I'm running my headlights alot more and it's a little annoying

I've noticed this on mine too. Now today when I was doing a little spirited driving my battery light started blinking around 5,500 rpm's. I'm guessing I'll be putting a new alternater in this winter while my car sits. If you fix it, post and let me know...

You might check your belt, sounds like it's slipping when your spinning the motor that high, thus the battery light only at high rpm.

There is an alternator wiring fix for pulsing dash lights. Look under the Duratec Maintenace forum within the "Duratec Maintenance - Read First" sticky. The title of the link is "Alternator wiring fix (flikering lights, low rpm)". It tells you how to improve the alternator wiring to get rid of pulsing dash lights.

What should i check for? Thanks alot for the suggestion. I do NOT want to change this Alternater!
just see if there is exessive play in the serpentine belt on the pass side of the engine compartment, also if it is an older belt it may be glazed and revving the engine high will cause slipping.

only took about 30 min, 10mm socket, a short extension, and a long flathead screwdriver to undo clips on connectors ( and then any crimps or connectors to do wiring red/orange wire is 16 gague). Glad I didn't have to pull the alt, doesn't look like much fun. The easiest way to get to the top 2 wires is to lay with your feet out the front of the car and come in with your right hand through the area where the right axle passes through, and then use your long flathead to undo clips with your left hand. Then fish the wires up top to do the work to the right of the serpentine belt.

I checked voltage at the battery and everthing is working correctly, and
the dash and headlights are very steady now. Great fix:D
