I run 6. You could do a search as this issue has been talked about a lot. Some run 6.5...

6 in my full 3L.
i think I run 7, maybe upwards of 8 qts .... but then again I need extra for the turbo and remote oil filter :laugh:

I run 6 after I find the extra .2 qt in the bag in the back seat, because they never listen to me when I tell them to put in all 6 instead of the 5.8 that it calls for.

i poor the stuff in untill the dip stick is full after a couple of runs with the vortech. nvr counted... with a stock 2.5L around 6 quarts or untill its full after 2 or three start ups.

About 5.25 with my full '01 3.0. That puts it about 1/4" above "full" on the dipstick.

Contour oil pan/pickup/dipstick tube/dipstick.
really suprised that it will only take 5.2 qts to get over the max line. I always recall putting 6 qts in to get there if not more.
besides the owners manual states 5.8 qts anyway ...

escape oil pan on mine and I use 6 quarts, always puts me about half a hair over full.

Which owner's manual has specs for a Taurus engine with Contour oil pan?
i wouldn't think a 3L would need a vastly different amount of oil then the 2.5L. our owners manual calls out 5.8 qts iirc
