Would someone please give me the correct Motorcraft Air Filter Number for the SVT Contour. This is the conical filter, not the rectangular one. Thanks.

The reason I need the correct number is to replace the K&N that's in there now. I searched some websites and can't find anything that convinces me the K&N is better at filtering than the stock one, and, unless you are very careful and lucky, the K&N will oil up the MAF and TB. I don't need whatever small power gains might be realized with the K&N, but do consider good filtration to be the more important aspect. My opinion.

The Motorcraft number should be F4ZZ9601A.

That would be part of the Ford part number.

The Motorcraft part number is FA1611. The Purolator part number is A34877. I don't know the (cough, cough) Fram part number. The list time I bought a Purolator the catalog said subject to availability part discontinued. Fram (cough, cough) may end up being our most available option. I'll probably be shopping for Wix or NAPA Gold. I have a hard time saying (cough, cough) Fram.

The Contour SVT air filter is reportedly the same as specified for certain V6 Mustangs.

The only way that the MAF and other inatake parts will get excessive oil from the filter is if the owner of the filter puts too much oil on the filter after cleaning it. Or does not allow time for the filter to dry after cleaning it.
