contour + 4g63 motor idea

try more like $5K+ to rebuild and turbo the Zetec (Ive done it, i know) and $10K+ to swap in the 4g63 (which you will need a stand-alone system for since the Ford PCM doesnt know what to do with the engine).

10k sounds pretty optimistic for that swap, especially if a person cannot do the fabrication themselves. Machining an adapter plate for the bellhousing (assuming that is possible between the 4g63 and contour trans).... otherwise it is bolting in the 4g63 with a trans that is FWD and matches, welding in new engine mounts, a subframe to locate a motor that sits backwards, custom axles, a megasquirt or some other stand-alone ecu (assuming he can figure out setting it up for the ford harness and gauges) Otherwise, it is a stand-alone with custom harness and gauges.

For the time/money/complexity, I would just swap to rear drive with a v8.... and we all know how many of those have been done.

And if the OP is still considering the AWD idea...... Why not ask goumba how much work and money goes into that for a master fabricator when using parts that are bolt innish....

3000GT? Worst idea ever.

What is wrong with a 3000GT. I happen to like transmissions that are constructed entirely out of glass and hammers.
 
i going to make my contour be able to fly with super cool turbo power, & cool wings, & all the other cool stuff. :crazy:

Don't forget the f15 jet engine we have at baggeds waiting to be installed. And that radio you picked out that controls the turbo jets looks sweet :drool:
 
well i was thinking of just using the evo ecm with the evo wiring harness

That would mean using the evo fuel pump, evo cluster, just about evo everything.... heck, basically you would need a whole evo donor vehicle to swap over EVERYTHING, and a buttload of fabrication to make the evo stuff fit.

As much as it would have the wow factor and "coolness" of a EVO heart in a Contour, this is one of the dumbest ideas I've seen on here....like everyone has said before, its a waste of time, money and would require basically 100% custom work to fabricate it all to work. Hell, making a SVT Lightning motor into a 89 Mustang was enough work, and thats a Ford to a Ford swap..and figuring out how to disable the PATS system was a job in itself.
 
For the amount of money this "project" is going to cost, you may aswell buy an evo and mod that :shrug:.

Ya i no it wuld b cheeper to do that, but i lyk to be diffrent and i gots skills and anywun can mod an evo but it wuld be cool to have an evo contour

ya i hear ya but its a idea and yes it wont be done for a while i was siting here thinking about how much moneyit woul dbe to buy a evo 4g63 and rebuild it or rebuild the zetec i have and turbo it to do the 4g63 it would be around 5k+ and to do the zetec it would be around 2000-3000 to build and trubo and i can get some turbo parts off my freinds so at this point in time sence im still 19 and dont have a good paying job to support the 4g63 build i think i will build the zetec for now but like i said earlyer i promise the community i will do a 4g63 swap sometime in the future just look for my post =p
