What are the best component, speakers, I have lightning audio 6x8's now with a sony headunit, but I want 4 way 6x9's. Please give comments, and suggestions. Please.:help::crazy:

i like the boston acoustic Pro60SE, but they cost to much and i can't see putting them in a ford contour that is a DD. however for a cheaper component i like the kicker DS68.2. i think they list for around 140-150(? could be wrong) but you can get them on ebay for less than 90.

Head over to bestbuy check what they got, it's clearance time now and i just picked up some sony 5x7s for 30 bucks...

Also the more"way" speakers aren't necessarily better for liniar frequency response.. it's a lot harder to get the crossovers spot on..

I put MB Quart Refrence Components in my wife's car, and they sound incredible. I have also used Infinity Refrence components as well.

As for coaxle, I am using Pold db's and Infinity Right now. Very happy w/ both. I am also a fan of Pioneer, which may be the best bang for the buck speakers IMO. They are not quite as good as the others listed, but they don't cost near as much, either.

And like Carpe said, components are separate woofers/tweeters. 4 ways have all (woofer/mid/tweeter/supertweeter) in one package.

Unless you are running an subwoofer, you will lack any low end bass and mid bass with whatever speakers you get. The mounting locations for the speakers in the doors make for sucky cabin acoustics. I tried upgrading my speakers a while back and found out no coaxial would give me the bass I wanted, even when amplified.

6.5 speakers get the adapter to be able to install them

I've heard everything from 5s-6x9s and the bass was just about the same with the exception of the smaller ones having less. It is a little better with both skins of the door sound deadened. The issue is they are mounted low and don't fire in the right direction, without heavy modification of the body panel/door. A custom kick panel/tweeter pod using a component setup will help greatly.

I have had 4 way pioneer speakers in all 4 doors for quite some time now, Love them. At some point I'll probably upgrade the fronts to separates and add an amp. Not yet though.
