Cold air intake question

Show me the dyno plot to prove it. I'll admit it looks cleaner but its almost never a performance mod. My most recent experiment was a friends Celica that he insisted on putting money into so we did two dyno runs stock, two runs with just a filter and then two runs with the cold air intake and didnt let him see any of them until it was all done. He ended up gaining 3hp max somewhere in the middle powerband for the $125 he spent on the intake and the dyno operator told him the average deviation between runs can be that big when stock.

Well let me help you a bit here....is the stock celica intake that restrictive in the first place, how can you make comparisons between our intake design dimensions with the celica's?? Is the stock intake properly path-ed so the is very little restrictions.?? Was measurements made for OD OR ID? How much cfm flow does the engine flow? How much is max cfm from the TB? What exactly did you compare? Just a filter addition??

Its cool you got your contour ...this year and all. Take some of your false hopes and comments back to the old forums and take your time searching.

I'm sick of pointing out too all these newbies the old forums with a ton of great information on what has been used so this platform could be at least half way competitive in this empty market. ALot has been covered and i really don't care enough to keep wasting my time pointing this out to newbies.

Dyoel.. cover all aspects of your dyno results/comparisons and engines. Please take some time and search before making claims.

I looked before I asked if anyone had the dyno slips to support adding an intake when I was looking at the Nautilus kit. All I found were posts about people being happy that something was finally made for the v6 models. People blindly slap aftermarket filters and intakes onto just about every car and it drives me crazy. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers about it but I do appreciate your exhaust work stuff.

Dude... not even a good cold-air intake is going to get you anything all by itself. It works in concert with the rest of your mods.

NO, I don't have any dyno charts, but good Lord... people used those for like 8 YEARS on this platform for performance. They weren't all just crazy.

I understand how intakes are supposed to work as a gateway to other mods you make but most times its just unwarranted work and money when everything flows well enough from the factory. On other boards with my other cars people always add intakes just because they're available not because they actually needed it.

well, first of all,the npg isnt the first cai ever available for this platform,i'd just like to point out that misinformation. gmk/cc came before it,and shoshop had one prior. search the old forums, and the archives. i remember finding plenty of dyno's back in the old days.

Who said that NPG was the first?

I have a GMK, myself; have since 2003...

unless of course u're planning to go auto surfing with ur car.
