its a '98 with 57k on the good ol' odometer (much less than half of mine, haha) its an EO...it was nice seeing a dash that has no warp whatsoever, needs to be cleaned up, missing two jack covers and rear bumper mesh (thats where elky you come in, haha) all in all pretty nice shape, kid was shocked that mine has almost 140k on it...the only downside is it needs a clutch, i guess its slipping...apparently someone learned to drive stick on it, all new brakes on it too, pads and rotors all the way around, he wants 3,800 for it, im strongly considering it, anything i should be warned about the early ones, it was born 5/97 so im guessing its a real early one? i dont know when they started production, maybe goonz could throw in some info, any advice would be awesome, thanks

mine from 11/96 so yours is pretty normal..

Seems like a reasonably price, ecpecially for the mileage. Some things you would prolly change are obv. the clutch, then def. the water pump sooner or later..and hopefully this one will last you 140K :)

good luck and keep up posted

btw what color is it?

ya id def check to make sure the water pump had been changed, ive been searching for a low mileage one and this one is the next town over so its pretty convinient, although i have fallen very much in love with the T-red's...this one is black...the kid was shocked when i told him the mileage of my car, im probably gonna test drive it tomorrow (and see how back the clutch really is) so ill let you guys know how it goes...i just wasnt sure if the EO's had any hidden issues

so. why were you getting rid of yours? too many mileage?

but that sounds like a good fine.. i got mine for 4500, E1 with 73000 when i got it.. and it already had a B&M short shifter.. something fishey going on right now.. really bad just started happening like an hour ago.. i dont know if its wheelbearing or rotors anymore becuase it is a constant grinding

ya mine runs and drives great, but i plan on having a csvt for a long time and i think something with lower miles might be better for me cause i drive A LOT...on a side note...a wheel bearing noise is more of a hum and vibration, not sure rotors would grind either...interesting

Devils advocate here:
To be honest I would keep yours. It's been two years less on the road so likely less rust/etc, plus you know exactly what's wrong with it and what can be fixed. The only reason I would trade yours down for a lower mileage SVT is if yours is costing thousands each year to repair. The other SVT could have problems hiding. It is a good price though!

Keep the 2000. Upgrade the motor and trans if / when necessary. You know where your car has been, not so much where his has been.

So are you still going to buy that wrecked one in VT?

This is why I like my SE. It was just a plain ol' car for some guy to drive to work in every day. You start looking at high mileage SVT's and you dont know what they've been through. People rarely buy performance oriented vehicles and not open them up more often than not. I'll just add that SVT look without having to worry about that SVT abuse.

And you wont have the svt prestige, which means alot to some people

yes, that is indeed a tradeoff. But for my situation reliability > svt prestige and questionable history

w00t!

That's what it's looking like! I blame you for making me jump on the bandwagon.

guilty as charge then

now you need a mirko :help:

if you want some help installing the stuff let me know, I was able to install everything plus the mirko in about 6 to 8 hours, and that was with installing the rear bumper twice

3800 w/ 57k! Sounds like a deal to me. A new clutch & pp is about $300. See if he takes 3500 and run. An early E0 with better sound deadening, no dash warp, dash clock etc. are the best IMO. Rather have an early one. Oh yea I do. :D
