CF Lexus 2IS brings to you some CF LOVE!

Im unsure if you ever went to a car show, seems like you didnt but different classes and trophies for sickest rims or sickest car of show, best lexus, best ford, best ford contour, best daily track car are just some of the many categories of shows.

Yeah, I've been to shows - I'd guess this is gunning for Rims*, but I thought having wheels with an offset that made it look like they were made for a different car would detract points. I'll accept I was wrong. As I said to begin with, I don't see the appeal in stretching tires anyway, so my bad.

*Is that really a category? It's not like people can build rims in their garages, so wouldn't it just become "Who Spent the Most on Wheels?"

You can't bolt any set of wheels to any car. Crazy offsets like Rob's require working the inner fenders and suspension; as well as trying different tire combo's to find what works. Don't hate cuz his dubs eat your stock wheels.

Usually not a category, But for an overall decision sure. My rims are Custom painted.

I have yet to see rims painted like that, Painted Lip with a Polished Time attack style tip of the lip. Thats why I did it. Matches with the custom brake kit. Little things like that make all of the difference to a show car. So him having the CF Rims along with his CF parts to accent each other is all the better.

As for the alignment/stretching tires its something he is into. I like it as well to a degree. Im sure you would rather his fitment as opposed to you getting some decent sized rims and having them half way tucked into your wheel well garbage. I am so over that and getting ready to fix it.

This is RobsDaace's car not mine Im done here cause this is getting retarded. We understand you dont like it. Dont ask why he or others like it. Move on! LOL

CF is way. Too. Played. Out.

Agreed.

Disagree. My forged 17x8s have the correct SVT offset, usable rubber, and clear all fenderwells. Again (and I swear to stop stating my opinion past this point because Amyn is right in saying I've made it well-known), having wheels that jut out past the car's sheetmetal isn't impressive – it's sloppy. IMHO, YMMV.

But you must agree that there is at least something impressive about a one and only set. Rob will never, ever, pull up at a stop light and see his twin across the way. Your wheels may be custom, too, and kudos for that. But come on, carbon fiber custom wheels? Baller no matter how useless.

sure he could. that's the point of sponsoring him and putting them on his car. to get more people to want to get the same thing.

the only way youre getting a one and only set (one off) is if you pay the company to not ever make any more for anyone else (yeah right) or you buy those crazy million dollar diamond covered rims that Asanti made.

rob, you were sponsored, which im sure doesnt mean they were free, how much did you pay for them?

Ahh... herein lies the rub! I've been in a functional = cool mindset for a while, so these hit me like a concrete life-vest.

i like your wheels. they actually look even better with that thin "polished" stripe. kudos to creativity.

i really dont care for the stretched look myself. i just did a set of wheels that were for a 350z. 18x10 fronts and 18x13 rears. widebody car. yes, probably going to be stretched. im interested to see how it looks when they finally get put on the car. the lips were sick though

looking at the rear...this stretched tire look...looks really cheap. I would def be tellng the owner to sell the ebay CF and buy himself a real set of tires.

But i honestly am a tough critic.

I criticized your car the last few times you've posted and while its still not my personal taste, I gotta say the CF wheels look good and pull together the theme.

Hey guys! This turned into an exciting thread haha!

First off, the wheels will not haze because like everything else that's carbon, they have the resin/clear coat etc and are guaranteed to be top notch...

Strasse Forged is actually a fairly new company and the whole reason they sponsored me was because i am HUGE in the Lexus forums (over 4,500 posts) and i already got them 5 Lexuses to order wheels. I was the first Lexus IS250/350 with a set of their wheels and i can guarantee i wont be the last. Hell if someone copies my wheel set-up i'll just sell mine and get a different set of Strasse Forged wheels! (They just came out with step lips :D)

As for what i paid, it was a one time sponsored price so i can not mention any pricing but i know a set like my wheels will retail at about $1,975 a rim.

These wheels were EXTREMELY light when they had no tires on. I was able to curl them no problem LOL and if i remember correctly, the front (20x9) weighs about 22-23 lbs...

I decided to go with that offset/fitment because in the Lexus world, it's all about VIP and who has the flushest wheels and best fitment and let me tell you everyone LOVED my fitment and i actually need to lower my car a bit more for the whole hellaflush look. I am actually going to be featured in a couple online magazines and i'm awaiting my other mods to be considered in paper magazines.

This won't be the only car i get guys, I'm considering an IS-F or an M3 next and for sure i will modify it to my liking, even if it's CF on another white car! ;)

I appreciate all the comments & opinions and i know that White/CF isn't for everyone!

Thanks for your time guys!

P.S- It's a "BASE" model because believe it or not it's the car i wanted down to the exact specs...

2007/2008 Lexus IS250 Starfire Pearl with Black Leather interior 6 SPEED MANUAL (which is a 4 month pre-order). I shouldn't have to explain my reasoning for getting the car i WANTED instead of getting a car with 100 extra HP... i prefer cruising enjoying my ride and the great miami and getting the usual stares :D

I am not a big fan of stretched tires but at least I get the look. I just don't think the edge of the rim should be exposed. And the front/rear tire profile starts to look round like a balloon in extreme cases.

Rob,

I think you car looks very clean and tastefully modded the wheels look sweet and different so congrats on the new wheels and creating such a nice car.

WTF is this? Seriously, WTF?

I like the quick blurb that preceded this picture on that page:

I was doing my daily browsing through Speedhunters and came across this dope ass, perfectly stanced Accord wagon. Eventhough I was never a HUGE honda fan, this wagon and the S2K have always done it for me.

There is no positive gain to having the car setup this way. Just seems like another way...to be different.

Yea, because some people like the look of it. Personally I don't care for leopard print, but some people think it looks good, should I call them stupid for liking it? No. To each his own.

He's obviously put a lot of thought and love in the car and I think it shows. Having a go-fast car mostly just takes money, having a good looking car takes actual skill. Who cares if its base model? A lexus is250 is still a nice car, fast or not.

Let me see if I got this right. You are saying that there is no skill in building a good fast car (drag, autoX, road course, whatever you like), but to buy parts from a catalog and pay a body shop to paint and/or install them does take skill.?????

Who gives a crap about suspension and engine tuning. The really skilled guys are good at picking body shops.
