was that the only code? first you might want to swap the lower cat monitoring sensors to verify the code .... if when you swap them you get a P0420 then the sensor is bad ... otherwise the pre-cat is shot

options:
1. new precat = $$$
2. headers - $$
3. mil eliminators - $
4. ignor it - not a good idea ...

Thanks for the info. I think you might be right about it being the precats.

well yeah, the codes P0420 and P0430 are for the pre-cats ... from what I have seen if it is caused by a sensor then there are sensor codes also... but if you only have the cat code then it is most likely the cat but it can't hurt to check the sensors out just to make sure ...

also I forgot to mention if you are under 80k and 8yrs old you can have the pcm reprogrammed to turn the cel off and it is covered under the federal emissions warrenty ... forget the TSB number off hand though ...

I've noticed lately the exhaust is louder near the precats so I'm assuming there's some damage to them or a bad gasket. I had autozone clear the code and it hasn't come back on yet. I guess it's time for some headers lol!! Thx again for your help.
