car veers when hitting the brakes

Ive tried searching and i cant seem to come up with anything. i am sure this topic has been covered before. can someone steer me(ha, fitting for this thread) in the right direction. ive search in the whole forum and came up with nothing. thanks

wow, thanks so much, i must have been doing something wrong when i searched. next question, does anyone know the part number for the bolts or where to get them, i'm not really sure i will be able to get to the dealer for the parts before it closes. but i could sent my wife if she has a part number. thanks

just wanted to update you about the control arm. i finally finished it up this weekend. it acually went very well. i do have a few pointers that i learned along the way. first, spray pentrating oil on the ball joint before starting the work. this makes it very easy to remove. mine only took a couple of hit with a small hammer. next, to remove the bolt that is blocked by the transmission. i found it easier to slightly raise the motor and transmission. i did this by putting a jack under the car and slightly raising them. also the axle can be a little tricky, i end up raising both wheels just to make sure the axle was still in the transmission. i ended up having to give it a good hit with my foot to get it back in place. it took about 3 hrs to complete. thanks guys for all the great post.

adam, when u say u raised the engine to get clearance, does that mean u didnt drop the subframe? or a combo of both?

i didnt drop the sub frame. just lightly jacked on the transmission. sorry about the confusion

so jacking up slightly on the tranny side gave u enough room to pull the bolt and get the new one in? i might reconsider doing my lcas now instead of next year. i have to do my wheel bearings and inner tie rods before a get an alignment. would prefer adding in the lcas too before the alignment

For 4 bolt control arms:
bolts are W703116*S309, nuts are W520213*S440

For two bolt control arms, here’s what you need:

W703901-S309, BOLT, PKG OF 4 PCS
W703016-S306, NUT, ONE

when i put that bolt part# into teamfordparts it says $3.26. so do i select quantity 4 or just 1? if the pkg is already 4 bolts, is it a quantity of 1? i dont want to order 4 and get 4 bags of 4 bolts each. the nuts are 5.46 each.

no, it didnt give me enough room, to pull it out. just room to cut it and have some room to put the nut on the bolt. if you dont raise the trasmission and motor its almost impossible to cut under the head of the bolt. another side note is that the nuts also needs to be ground down about an 1/8th inch. it really wasn't that bad to do. the axle is the trickiest.

also ford only sells the bolts in packs of four. that is a price of one.
