Can OBD Scanners Test Alternator?

I have Alex Peper Vehicle Explorer OBD-II software.

I was wondering if there was a way to test the alternator and battery using OBD software. For example, is there a way to test for voltage or amperage?

If there is, what parameter IDs (PIDs) would I check for?

well with an xcal you can monitor battery voltage so I would think that you could.

why not just get a voltmeter and check it out?
