I have a set of cams that came out of an early production SVT. The cams, however, do not have the standard SVT orange paint but instead blue. The engine is said to be stock.

I've pulled early SVT cams and haven't seen this before. Even on my #173 I don't recall them having a blue paint ring.

Has anyone else seen this come out of an early SVT?

I don't know the # of the car but I've asked for the VIN.

I still have a 3L sitting in my garage but haven't touched it in 8 months. Maybe I'll have a look at that today.

...'Blue Band' cams that is...If you check the part #'s on them you should find that they are for a stoc LATE 2.5 V6 BUT with the NARROW t/chain etc as the 3.0's now have.I have a 2001/2 new 2.5 engine(non svt) in my shop with blue cams. TH

------------

Wonder if that engine is really an SVT engine and was replaced with a stock 2.5 long block.

All 2.5L Contour SVT/Mondeo ST200 cams were painted yellow. That includes both 3/8" and 8mm pitch chain sprocket versions. No other 2.5/3.0L Duratec cams have ever been painted yellow. The blue cams can only have come from late 2000MY production 2.5L and after (Mondeo/Cougar).
