Cabin Air Filter

So my cabin air filted started leaking this morning after it rained out... I know I have read around here that people just seal it up with silicone or whatever... If I actually get a whole new filter though (has never been changed), will I still have to seal anything? I have not looked at it yet...

yes its not the filter but the housing gasket that leaks I had this issue and fixed it by using rtv along with the old gasket

Okay, I kind of figured it was something like that, thanks... RTV, eh? Anyplace special that I need to go to get that?

rtv = silicone any auto parts store rtv = room temp valcanize

So I am sealing this area then, where the assembly attaches to the frame? Should be simple enough

make sure you seal both side's of the original gasket. firewall side and box side. don't be shy with the rtv

couple bucks worth of weatherstripping from Home Depot fixed the issue for me, and it didn't have to be sealed to the car frame. :shrug:

Yea, I went with this method... If it still leaks I will just put RTV around the new weatherstripping...
