Bunch of problems for the newb

Now there is another idle issue. When I accelorate and go to change gears the revs will either jump up like I'm hitting the gas pedal still or stay the same...only sometimes do they actually drop like they are suppose to. I am taking my foot off the clutch and the clutch is pushed in enough to be able to change to the next gear. Even if I shove it to the floor it will still do this. It's starting to tick me off cause it keeps making the car jerk all around.

search 'throttle hang' for this. I cant say i know how to fix it, but this sounds a lot like it, and i've seen quite a few discussions on it.

Not throttle hang. Throttle hang doesn't cause RPM to increase or jump. This is a continuation of your idle problem. Still believe its probably the IAC valve as I informed before. IAC = Idle Air Control
Between shifts, foot of the gas car is at idle potential. Granted it takes a few seconds to drop and get completely there but idle process has started. This is usually then interupted by foot back on the gas after changing gears and accelerating. But any time your foot is off the gas consider it idle.

If you don't want to spend for the IAC valve right now, remove it and clean with brake cleaner, MAF cleaner, electrical contact cleaner, etc. If that helps then you know you need a new IAC, cleaning usually doesn't last for long and problem returns.

Towards the right on back (firewall) side of UIM. One electrical connector and two bolts to UIM. Part of it looks like the old metal 35mm film roll container. Easy to find and access, 5 minute job with right tools.
