Do NOT buy that stuff from Crutchfield! I picked up the 6871s for $50 shipped from another e-tailer. Hell, even WalMart has that same speaker for $58. On the HU, for $20 more you can get the Pioneer Premier DEH-490ib from www.etronics.com . I have ordered two HUs from them, including the 490 I just mentioned. Fast shipping and great prices. Take a few minutes, or hours, and search for your items on www.pricegrabber.com and www.epinions.com . There are MUCH better deals out there for the same products.

As far as your choices go, the Pioneer speakers are probably one of the best bang-for-the-bucks out there. They sound great, surprisingly good bass, and damn cheap.

Regarding the Premier 490 I just bought, I've only had it installed for two days. It looks FANTASTIC in my pre-98, as the finish almost exactly matches the charcoal color of the pre-98 dash trim. The face is super-sleek, modern, has two scrolling lines of text, and comes with the iPod adapter most other companies charge $50 for. It is bluetooth capable too. Check it out, as I think it is definitely worth the extra $20 over Crutchfield's price for a much lessesr unit. Also, the Premier line has a two year warranty, compared to one year for the basic Pioneers.

definatly need to get on ebay or buy.com or asksimon.com to fin good deals on components, use crutchfield to get ideas and specs and then go from there ...

I use Crutchfield for research and then buy it online like everyone is saying.

For sub and amp, I guess it depends what you are looking for. I just wanted to add some low end punch, so I got a 10" Polk sub ($20 clearance at Fry's), and a RF 150w amp off of ebay. Put the amp in a 1.25 sqft Q-logic box, got a wiring kit off eBay, and installed it myself. All that was around $150 and it sounds great. If you want to shake all the cars around you, I can't help you with that. :)

Alot of people have done the rear deck subs as well for pretty cheap, do a search for that.

I also added tweeters up near the inside sail panels, to lift the sound off of the floor, and it made a huge difference. They were just basic Pioneer tweets with built-in x-overs.

Here in the Atlanta area some of the HiFi Buys (Tweeter) stores are closing so they are having good sales. They had subs and boxes for 50% off, HU's too. Might want to check into that if there are any around you.
