SO I ahd noticed the contour was getting louder and louder everytimg I drove it. It started witha rasp a month or so ago and has progressivly gotten worse. Of the past week it has gotten really bad, so I finally crawled under there to find it. I had suspected felx pipe since the car had bad motor mounts a couple years ago, we got one replaced and I still think it needs a second one. Sure enough, it was.

So is there somehwere I can buy a new one of these, or am I going to have to go pull one from a zetec at the JY?

Dealt with that a few years ago. You'll need a 10" flex pipe, which I haven't seen anywhere. Buy a standard 1.75" diameter flex pipe, which is usually around 6", and have an exhaust shop/welder weld another 4" of pipe to it. Cost me about $30 for the flex pipe and $50 for them to weld it in place.

They sell a piece of pipe from the flange to about 10 inches upstream of the flex part, with a flared sleeve that fits over your stock pipe. You cut your old pipe there, clamp it up at the top, and bolt it up at the flange. They run about $80 and come with a clamp and flange gasket. You can do this yourself without any special equipment, but having just a new flex section welded on is probably about the same price when you add on labor. Up to you.

I got to a technical high school so any welding or work I need done is free for me. I'll probably look into getting a new flex pipe just welded in.

Napa usually carries a decent selection of flexpipes, and will order what you need if it's not in stock. Check there first and save on the shipping. Oh and good call on the free welding, $25<$80!

did a google search for flex pipe 1.75" 10" and the first result was for aone on ebay that's 1.75" diameter with a 10" flex and 14" overall. Its $15+$10 shipping. I think I'm going to pick that up and just have my school weld it in......problem solved!

Sounds like it's handled, but I was going to suggest Summit. Just bought a 2.25" x 10" I welded on my SVT shipped for about $29.

Do you guys think there would be much of a quality difference between the one on ebay, Napa, and Summit? Or are they all pretty much generic and will be about the same?

Definitely do your homework. Aftermarket flexpipes are not the same as the stockers. I installed one on my Tour when I had one of my many exhaust systems on and a couple months later there was a hole in it.

So I wasted a quarter tank of gas driving around trying to find one today (bad o2 sensor(s) so its running really rich and I get terrible milage, so not THAT much driving). I went to autozone and asked, the guy pointed me in the direction of the "flexpipes" that you use to do ghetto ehaust systems instead of using mandrel bent pipe. When I went to Oreily's the guys had to think for a minute, then asked me "for the intake?" they had never heard of one for hte exhaust. And of course the only Napa in a 50miles radius went out of business a few months back (I guees :censored::censored::censored::censored:zone and O':censored::censored::censored::censored:ties stole all their customers). I'll wait until the exhaust shop 50ft from my house is open during weekdays and go tlak to them.

I ended up giving up on the contour and bought paint to paint my bmx bike frame. Its going to be flourescent orange with all black parts, should be sick.

I haven't had any issues with the flex pipe I got off ebay for $20 shipped. I've had it for a couple years now, and sure it's showing some slight wear at the edges, but is still just fine.
