Yesterday night my car broke down alongside the interstate. its a good 20 miles from home. I was going to ask anyone if they know the best way to get it back. I have a tow rope. or should i spend 40 and get a tow dolly from uhaul. Also if i go the tow rope way where can i hook it on too under the car. Would it be safe? I don't know what happened to the car. its something with the fuel. I think a line might have blown. There was a pool of gas under the car. Before i couldn't fill the tank because it would leak out. any suggestions would be great thanks

Unless you have someone comfortable pulling you home along the interstate I'd just pony up for the wrecker to come grab you.

yes you can pull it with a tow strap. I would wrap it around the subframe.

otherwise just rent the dolly as that would be easier

When you say broke down in what way. If your alternator went out and you were riding on the battery, it maybe just a matter of getting the battery out, and do a good charge on it, and return it to the car. This way you can ride back home on the battery, and troubleshoot from there.

Maybe you should tell us the symptoms.

I think 20 miles is way to far to pull it with a tow strap. If you do get a dolly be very careful especially if it's an SVT or SE with side skirts. They probably won't fit to well on most dollies. Also don't even think about trying to back up the car when it's on a dolly, trust me it don't work to well.
