Brand Name Short Throw Shifter Option

So these short throws on ultrarev need to be rewelded when we get them or only if they have issues...

Looks like a pretty sweet deal, I'm probably going to get one here soon...... gotta get paid 1st though

As for reverse lockout, someone (SVT_22) lost it when I was getting my car rebuilt, but I didn't like it anyways... I know my car doesn't have 6 forward gears...

I wouldnt say you NEED to reinforce the weld. There was one incident that I know of. Fidanza is reputable company and there other product, from what I know are quality. This will be for my DD so I need the peace at mind.

Recieved my shifter a day early, ran home got it ook it to the welder. Tig welded around the lower ball for $15,

Didnt come with instruction or grease. :mad: I used alot of general Automotive grease. From what I read it might not be the same thing B&M supplies :shrug: I hope it doesnt break down.

I managed to get it in, wasnt hard at all, however my 2000 had a plastic retaining clip which yes i did break an ear off of.

Shifter feels great, much shorter throws. I have to figure out what knob to use I like the look of the stock one but just a little tired of it. I didnt use the lock out collar or the centering spring.

I'm going to keep the centering spring when I do mine, but my lock out collar hasn't worked since the day it passed inspection :cool:
 
Okay I dont know what happen to the picture after the welding. I took it, it may be deleted. He welded around the top to connect to the flat steel. The other was flush with the bottom. I will add it came with The ball welded with a rosetta too, which is a weld from the back side of the ball.

The guy said it look good, and asked if the problem was common. However He was willing to make it better.

Sorry For Digging up an old Thread I figured it would cause less hassle then making a completely new one for the same topic, I am complete with the Clutch and Transmission Repairs and Now I would like To put some after market parts in the contour and I was thinking about a Fidanza shifter,I had a few Questions, Do they make a shorter shift BUT Does it make the shift "tower" shorter? at all? Because I am tired of hitting my radio Ha
 
I'm not familiar with the Fidanza, but I am going to say yes. Both the B&M and Steeda have shorter shafts and sit closer to the console.

to answer your question, yes the fidanza shifter is shorter and has shorter shift throws, as you can see in the pics that shifter is not level with the bottom of the radio. a stock shifter is just about level with the radio, so I would say you would never hit your hand on the radio again :cool:
