BLKOUT2: Rebirth. PRT 2011 track car build thread.

Get a good palm sander and 320 down to whole car. spray filer primer over the whole car and 320 the whole car again. this will give you a flawless body. then once your in the booth spray primer sealer over the whole car, this will give you an even color over anywhere you burned through with the DA. make sure you have no Orange peal in the filer primer before you spray sealer. once you spray sealer your golden, let it flash then 2 coats of color and clear

LOL, you make it sound so easy! I thought I was never going to finish sanding the rear quarter on #5000

Lol we were not fully equipped to do body work down at billys. also, #5000 was pretty rough. you would cry if you knew how much time I put into those bumpers. With poles car I am assuming that the body is straight

I already have a flawless body.....see what i did there?

As for the body work, appreciate the input. We've got most of it handled...car will require no primer and no clear. Tractor paint •••••es....

Yeah that's some really tough paint. Should handle up really well. I know a guy who has a built honda and it's got tractor paint on it. Handles the abuse really well.

I WISH!

So I know the last few days have been short on updates. Why? Because most of the nights have had ••••ty things happen and little progress was made deserving of pictures. I've been doing a lot of little things like pulling all the plastic clips/tape/foam in the interior. I also got all the new rear suspension painted up. The car has been completely stripped and ready for sanding this week. The paint is running late, so we're not planning to spray until next weekend now. Tonight I got the roof panel made from some sheet fiberglass I ordered, also got some parts for the revised HL intake. The panel will be painted seperately from the car and then riveted on, should look pretty bad ass looking.

Plans for the weekend are to not only start sanding, but also get the rear suspension swapped out, firewall holes plugged, paint the harness bar, and the the dash back in minus some wiring so it can be driven to paint. I've also got a lot of work under the hood to do in the near future but priority is paint prep.

Looking good. Can't wait to see it come back from paint with all the exterior work you've done and the car sitting on it's new suspension.

That's going to look good. How are you going to spray it/do you have to reduce it? Is that an enamel paint?

It's reduced with a thinner 1:8 and i also picked up their hardener with a mix ratio of 1:8. I'm having it painted by a friend of mine (HLVP). It is enamel paint.

This weekend was a good one. Made a lot of good progress in between working on two other cars.

Removed a little more unnecessary metal, cleaned up the interior and got the new suspension fully assembled and ready for install tomorrow night. Tomorrow I will also be capping all the firewall holes and getting the dash back in. Plan is to drive the car to paint Friday night/Saturday morning. There is a lot of sanding to be done before then.
