Best Spark Plug..

I would think that they would be priced the same IF the quality is suppose to be the same. Money-wise I would rather go with the cheaper plug but because of what happened I will put the money in Motorcraft instead.

You're talking about OEM parts? What isn't overpriced from Ford? They charge $37 for a paper cabin air filter for chrisake. I can get a charcoal Bosch filter for $30. I like my "same part lower price" philosophy.

I bet the motorcraft platinums are more than the autolite doblue plats, yet they are manufactured the same. I would buy the motorcrafts from a dealer, but I do not want to give them any $. Dealerships or rather "Stealerships" are so overpriced. The parts guys make $ off of the sales, techs upsell repairs, service writers jack up the repair times, etc.

I did buy a set of Motorcraft plugs Thursday, at a place called Farm & Fleet (it's just a Wisc. thing.) for $3.41 each after the 10% off. I did not look at the price for Autolite dbl Plats but will possibly this weekend. Don't get me wrong I am not crazy about OEM parts, but if these plugs cure my problem then I'll be happy. If not, well I will still keep them in the car and figure out what the heck the problem is, besides the fact that it is a first year model.

As for the cabin air filter, I paid around $23 at Advance Auto for a Fram, a year ago.

Later. Pepse.

Bosch +4

Bosch +4

I was just changing the plugs on my 2000 SVT (which is for sale in the classifieds BTW). I had not changed them since I bought the car two years ago and thought it might be time. I was surprised to find some Bosch 4 electrode plugs. I thought "hey, these are good plugs" because I had good luck with the 2 electrode plugs in my old SHO.

Anyway, I got to checking the air gap and it was only .025 at each electrode. This is only good if you have a compromised coil or soemhow can't generate voltage to jump the specified gap. I think it is pretty well documented that big gaps produce more torque. I know they fire a hotter spark, while a small gap will burn longer.

Anyway, the car seems to runa a bit better with the Autolite double plats. Maybe just my imagination, but I would also recommend sticking with the single electrode plugs.

there was a couple of really good topics that went in depth on good and bad spark plugs for our cars in the old forums, give a search, pretty good reading.

I'm wondering as to what would be the best setup for my svtc. I'm always replacing the things that need to be replaced when i buy a new car, so what would be the best plug and wire combos out there. Nothing but the best for my svtc
The car that I owned before my '00 CSVT was an SE-R Vspec. I installed a set of NGK Iridium IX plugs and they were AWESOME. When I got the CSVT, I went with I knew and got another set of NGK IX's and they made a HUGE difference right out of the driveway and have been performing great ever since!

Some of the purests might have a problem with using "import" plugs on a "domestic", but hey, go with what works right?

You have to go with what works for you!I hear the guys bash +4 plugs all day.I,ve had platium and double platium and these plugs went bad after a month.I,ve been running +4 plugs for 2 years and no problems.I,ve had 3contours and now down to 2.They all have or had +4 plugs and perform well!

Your car may be running well, but you're not getting the most out of it or best efficiency. With 4 electrodes to burn around, the +4 plugs are notorious for quenching the spark & subsequent burn. Your car though, so enjoy.

Not to mention the waste-fire ignition system is eating the hell out of the electrode on those +4's...

But, like said above, its your car.. so use what you choose.
