I had ram air and when you got on the car, all you heard was INTAKE! However when I switched to CAI, it was a more subtle intake sound, it was silent while cruising but when I got on it, you heard it

goonz, what do you think? that intake you say is good, is it? what fab work do you need to do? i'm wondering if i should get that, or just get the k&n drop in, it just seems like the stock svt intake is better than a shortram, even with a heatsheild

Yup, you cut a 3 1/2" hole in the fender, its really easy to do and is no big deal. I have pictures of one installed on my Cougar if you want to see it, just let me know.

after cutting the hole i would put some paint on the edges so it wont rust

O and GOONZ were did you put your IAT. i had to drill a hole in my pipe and zip tie it

Also, keep in mind, the only reason Goonz's setup worked is because he has a battery that looks like it came from a Power Wheels.

The fuse box on his was pushed over towards the battery to make space for the CAI pipe.

yea, basically my fuse box is just laying there haha. Its squeezed between the battery and intake so its not gonna move, but its not secured either.

as for the hole, I dont see any rust, but what you can do is cut the hole a little bigger and put that rubber edging stuff on to so there are no sharp objects and will prevent rust..

only way to prevent rust is to clean teh surface after cutting and then paint it to lock moisture out ... the rubber might end up holding moisture and make it rust faster ....

Yea definately could not run that. I have a 1000amp battery that is so big that we had to modify the surroundings so it would fit.

I think the secret weapon intake by weapon-r is the best intake, combine that with their cold air box, i love it...noticable gain too...

Well, I had an inken one of my se v6, which i put on my svt, then upgraded to the kkm tru rev, and then got this secret weapon with the cold air box, well worth the money, car runs cooler, noticable gain in power, both low and high end, so its not overpriced in my book... i think i am going to buy the cold air induction from customcougars to compare....i'll let ya know

No intake will give you any noticeable performance gains. But it's a start...

K&N RU-3530 filter + MAF adaptor + Custom heatshield.
