I have been wanting to get one since i got my new set up, since not all sonds sound good with that much bass. What would you guys recomend, and how do you go about wiring one up?

I was looking at that one.

Is the wiring run from the amp, to two of the rca terminals, and then the other two terminals to the cd player?

that seems to be the case. appears to run inline between the hu and amp. have u checked to see if your amp has a remote bass knob that u can buy that plugs directly to the amp?

I was told by somebody at work that it doesn't matter what knob you use. But i haven't checked my specific amp, to see if it has one. Right now its just hooked up to a switch :S

Never had to use that style myself, but it is effectively the same as having a volume control for the sub in your H/U. You keep the constant gain setting on your amp while varying the input level to it.

that's not 'technically' a bass knob, its just lowering the input voltage of the RCA's to lower the volume, a real bass knob adjusts the bass boost option on the amp itself. If you have a decent quality head unit it should have the option to turn up or down the volume of the sub.

the head unit has it to where i can turn the bass to -6, or to +6

I need a new amp anyways, so i will probably just wait to see what that one holds :)

so why waste money on a knob if you can do it from the headunit?

Its a time waster to go through the menu and go to the bass control, just for a couple songs.

I have to fix my other problem now though, which is why my amp is cutting on and off.

He can't from his head unit. he can turn up and down the bass output of the head unit to all speakers including the sub at once, not the sub pre-amp output level on its own.
IMHO, unless your planning on either upgrading your HU, or getting an amp with a remote gain control, That knob may be a wise purchase. Not many amps are available with a remote gain control now a days because most new head units already have the feature.

ah... even a 100$ pioneer has seperate sub preout volume..

They may now, but you dont have to go back far to find the basic pioneers that didn't the DEH1600's and 1700's from just a couple years ago I believe didnt have the feature, and who knows what brand/model he has. And on some units, its a pain to adjust if it has it. On my HU all I have to do is tap the volume knob and it becomes my gain control knob.

I don't plan on spending money on a new amp. Mine isn't that good of one, and its not really a "brand"name, but its 600watts and it works for me.

In order to get to the bass control, i have to hold a menu button, then scroll over a couple of places, then adjust it. It would just be so much easier if i just had a knob to do it with.

It's ridiclous to adjust it from the headunit....depending on the music you need to adjust the bass....mine connects through an RJ-45 jack. Check the back and buy it on ebay accordingly is my advice.

Technically that sounds very easy to do since you'll be parked while changing music and adjusting the bass accordingly.

Most of the time when i change my music, i am driving. Which my zune sits oh my e brake, so thats not out of the way. The knob would be towards it also, if i got it.

I assumed that. Its why I was half being sarcastic.

I know :p

Well i got more problems than getting a knob now, i have to rewire the entire thing. As i as driving the other day, my system got completely ripped out from the amp. So this time i will have to do it right. Serves me right for not tying it down to something >.>

The control knobs are a joke. The one for my diamond amplifier would go from full blast to nothing in one click. I removed it and bought a new amp.

The control knob on my Crunch amp feeds in the bass very linear, it works very well.
