Pretty sure i have the issue narrowed down, but thought i could use some feedback before going further.

Sitting at a stop light, idle changed and dash lit up. Brake light, abs light and battery light. Still running, no problems there, still starts everything works, power and idle is fine.

Now sitting at idle, no lights, no problems. As soon as i bring the revs up at all, battery light comes on. Turn on the ac, battery light goes off abs and brake light comes on.

Weird

Checked volts at the battery, fine at idle, jumps to 16-17+ bringing up the rpms.

No blown fuses or anything from over charging, but i assume that will come soon enough.

Has anyone seen this before? Before i undertake the p.i.t.a. Alternator swap, is there a relay or something quick and easy that could cause this?

Going to take it to autozone to have the alternator tested, but figured you guys are smarter than the guys there, so i would check here first.

Searched and couldnt find much, but may not have been searching under the right words or phrases.

Check to see if the small grey plug that goes on the alt is loose. That might be the issue but its very improbable.

i ordered a replacement anyway, just in case.

i'll mess with it more tomorrow or sunday after our football games.

then the hurculean task of swapping it
