I might have forgotten something so call if you have any questions. This is a serious ride, no test pilots and the car is sold as is because of the nature of the upgrades. This is a multiple show winner and you have probably seen it at performance world or audio thunder shows. All this for $17,000 obo. Call me at if interested.

I believe I have seen that add post around here before. Any way if that is what the dude wants for his car so be it. A good way to put it is I'll take 8 grand for the pudmobile at this time... will I see that probably not, but that is what it would take for me to sell it.

I love when every dollar amount is a complete blown out of proportion even number. Everything has an extra 0 on the end of it. That $2500 steering wheel can be found for $250. $15k for $1500 worth of audio equipment? what a joke.

Where can I get 15" rotors that look like basic 13" ones... and 4 piston calipers that look like basic 2 piston calipers?

Hi, I have a 1999 svt. And i love your steering wheel. Where did you get the adapter for the steering is it custom made i am interesting i it . any info on how to get one to work on my 1999 svt . Thank you.

LOL. The car looks pretty good tho......

I hope our dollar is worth double the canadians cause then I understand it!

Nope its basicly even. I think .9934 is the last I saw. So he's asking 17k for a freaking Contour. But with almost $51k invested you'd be stooopid not to jump on it!

LOL $51k invested..... I have at least 20k plus invested in mine and IMO its much nicer then that, besides its current state :P

The owner of that car is a friend of SVT SNOB. It does have a built motor but is definately not 500hp. The owner wants to sell it as its not driven so I think he tried beefing the ad up so some young gun with $$$ will buy it , but it has been for sale for a few months now- it was posted here back in september iirc by another member in the exact same kind of thread this is lol

I don't know about Canadian law, but here in the US false advertising is strictly prohibited, and strictly enforced. The law is pretty simple on this: Lets say someone were to take every word he wrote in the ad as truth. They then buy the car, thinking that it had all those items, and that they cost as much as he had represented them. Then they find out the real cost. The seller would be liable for misrepresentation. There are at least several remedies available at law, such as contract nullification. In the present situation, there is a clear case to be made for false inducement, as the seller clearly is trying to induce a buyer to pay egregious amounts for a car worth much less.

Here is a nice little case for you guys: http://lawschool.courtroomview.com/acf_cases/10619-izadi-v-machado-gus-ford-inc-

And no, Caveat emptor (buyer beware) does not apply in cases of false inducement, and/or false advertising. And it only applies in areas of Real Estate law.

So ... if Canadian law is any similar to US law, I suggest someone tell this con man to revise his ad before he is taken in front of a judge. :nonono::nonono::nonono:

No but it is his fault for misrepresenting the car, IIRC the law is you must be truthful in the sale of a car, if someone doesn't ask, then it doesn't apply, but if you volunteer the information or lie about it when asked then that is definitely illegal, actually saw a craigslist ad for a contour that claimed it was an SVT because it had the SVT plaque on an SE intake manifold, and had an SVT bodykit, but it was steel blue, had SE wheels, the SVT stuff was black, and the interior was obviously gray cloth so I wrote a polite e-mail to the seller to let him know that it was not an SVT and it would be in his best interest to remove that from the ad to save himself from any chance of a lawsuit.

Though really, he was asking $500 for it and the SVT kit looked in awesome condition so I let him know that he could probably get $500 for just the body kit.

um dude he can ask whatever he wants for the car, if someone is stupid enough to pay that much for the car its not his fault.

You missed the point entirely. Yes, he can ask for whatever price he wishes. However, he clearly misrepresented the value of the car by inflating and exaggerating the prices of the parts he allegedly has installed in the car. In addition, he also claims to have 15" rotors up front, with 4 piston calipers. This is totally false, as Baer does not make rotors bigger than 13" for the Contour. They do have 4 piston calipers, but the ones pictured are the normal 2 piston PBK. And no, the rears are not Baer 2 piston calipers either.

That said, anyone looking at that ad is being misled in to purchase the car out of belief that they will obtain value as described by the seller. Since the Seller intentionally misrepresented the value of the car, the Buyer was falsely induced by the promise of a high value of those parts, and the car as a whole. This is Contracts, first month of Law School...

lol I know nothing about law school but you gotta realize that most people will just play stupid and get away with it, like how do you know if he actually didn't pay those prices for those parts, maybe the seller was stupid and overpaid for the parts, you don't know do you? look I am not trying to defend this guy and I see your point completely, but you are getting way to pissed off at the seller of this car, besides like I said if someone is dumb enough to believe that his guy has that much money into this car and is willing to pay what he's asking for it then so be it.

You clearly didn't read the ad. The seller is BLATANTLY lying about the car.
