I haven't got to get out to a track this year and I'd like to before the end of the year. I was looking on the gingerman raceway site and I think the next three or four fridays are open. Would some people be interested in meeting up there? I think it's $120. I've never done this so it'd be nice to have some experienced people go.
 
You can go for a few hours Wednesday and Thursday night for $60.
Make sure you have a Snell 2000 helmet. There's been a crack down lately and they won't let you on without checking it.

I'll be there Thursday night (10/18) with the Rabbit.

Edit - doesn't look like I'm going to make it. Too much work stuff to do and I never got to the fuel pump last weekend!

also anybody been to blackhawk race farms? It's in Wisconsin but the website doesn't say anything about open track days. It's a little smaller track too(just under 2 miles I think) but still plenty big.

What: OPEN TRACK DAY
When: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 27th, 2007
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00p.m. (One hour lunch break at noon)
Cost: $150.00 per driver for the whole day. There are no half day passes.
Where: Gingerman Raceway

  • Previous track experience is a must! ​
  • Waiver MUST be signed upon arrival to premises.​
  • No passengers are allowed on the track unless a valid instructor licsense is shown to track manager.​
  • Helmets must be SNELL 2000 or newer for cars. (We will inspect EACH helmet)​
  • Helmets must be DOT 2000 or newer for motorcylces. (We will inspect EACH helmet)​
  • Bike riders must have a full or two piece zip-up leather suit with gloves.​
  • Car drivers must wear long sleeve shirt and pants.​
  • Convertibles must have a roll bar, cage, or roll hoop in place, pop-ups will not qualify.​
  • Appropriate wristbands must be worn at all times on the track.​

BFR or Blackhawk Farms Raceway does not have open track days like Gingerman. Groups do rent the track on weekdays for this but the track does not put them on themselves. If you want to come and check out the track there is an event on Sat. & Sun Oct 20th & 21st. $10 will get you in the gate. There will be 50 lap races in the afternoon.

There is an open track event at the Autobahn tomorrow. Go to the link I listed below for more info. I will be there on Sun. as a track official.
