Well, I picked it up tonight. I never thought I'd own one and I bought it just to flip it but man do I love this car! I think I'm gonna keep it now. :cool:

It's a 2000 Mercury Cougar with low miles and dropped with roush lowering springs. I picked it up from the ORIGINAL Owner which is always a huge plus in my book! It has brand new brakes with cross drilled and slotted rotors, brand new tires, and it is clean as heck. It still smells like a new car! It is fully loaded with the sunroof and all. I am leaning towards pulling the 2.5 and dropping in a SVT cam'd 3L with a built trans and a 75 shot to make one heck of a nice and fun daily driver! It was never in an accident and the paint is a 9.8 out of 10! The interior is just as clean and flawless which is why I am going to keep the car. I was overly impressed with the fit and finish of this car compared to all the Contours I've owned. These are very nice cars and I take back any back comments that I've ever made about them!

Picked up this newer Escort for $300 with 113,000 miles and a blown 2.0 which will be getting the new motor that I just picked up for $100! So for under $500 I'll put together this car that KBB's at almost 3 grand.

you're a ford nut thats for sure.:laugh: i do luv the interior of that cougar, especially the rear seats with the cupholders. just beautiful.:drool: i'm not the biggest fan of the headlights tho... the front in general. oh!, one more thing... I luv the A/C vents! i've always luvd them since they came on the mercedes 200class cars.

your gonna want to ditch those headlights for the 01+ or the aussies. they have much better light output

I never liked the tan leather seats though, and that damn cupholder is the infamous "cupspiller"... it isn't worth attempting to try and use! seriously!

Yours is considered "fully Loaded" as it has traction control, ABS, Mtx, Leather, fogs, and I am assuming Rear disc brakes too...

Make sure the fuel pump has been upgraded as per the recall, as it is a returnless fuel type... just in case :)

Good Luck with her! I am in the process of rebuilding mine almost completely...

woot woot nice cougar.......LASER RED FTMFW i always loved that color, same color as mine. very close to T-red but a little different. a 3L in that baby will be a dream, once u start modding that baby u will learn about how it sits on rails in the corners....ur gonna love that baby...welcome to the addiction

Whose car was it before? someone from NECO?

It definitely looks pretty darn clean. I'm also not a big fan of those seats though. Ugly color and shape.
mine's prettier - I'll prove it at SZ. :p :D ;)
 
each time I see AJ's rear reflecter painted, I want to do that to mine...but I then when I get home I don't do it :laugh: I really really should though. Paint is just sitting in the basement waiting.
 
Cougars are awesome cars. Id love to trade my svt in for one with a 3L hybrid. That car has a svt lower already in it Jeff. Put a SVT upper and TB and heads and its a svt motor then. Pretty cool IMO. It might also have SVT brakes, I know the sport models do (at least in 01 they did).

I asked the guy if he was on NECO and he said he sorta was way back in the day. He was a 35 year old man with a family and this car has been sitting in the garage for awhile since he had it towed home. I got it for dirt cheap, fixed it in his driveway in 15 minutes, and drove it home. :laugh:

As for my seats Kim, you only wish you could sit in them. ;) I'll have to search around NECO to find some pics of other optional interiors because I wouldn't mind picking up a set of nice black leather but I'd keep these before going cloth anyday. :shrug:

There was a company that made some pretty wicked seat covers for them, can't remember the name off the top of my head though.

Is that the original sunroof? If it is be careful with it, the 99-00 sunroofs had plastic tracks and broke pretty easily :blackeye: www.cougarsunroof.com
 
hell yeah, what ryan said. build that beast. its alreadt a good platform. it has the svt LIM and the 278mm front brakes......hell throw on a roush kit and that thing would look like a beast...i am jaded on laser red and roush goodness lol
